Were you a lonely only child? Lonely only child or loved being an only child?

I am an only child and I BEGGED my parents for a sibling. Physically they could have no more and adoption was not in the picture. I always felt so lonely but my father was an only child (as his father was and my mother's parent's were both only children....very few aunts, uncles and cousins)and he enjoyed being an only child... What about you? Would you tell others to give an only child a sibling?

I'm not an only child I have 4 other siblings. We don't get along well or maybe it's just me, mya attitude is far more different from theirs so we argue a lot. My 2 year old son doesn't have a sibling yet and it seem that he's enjoying all the attention that we give to him though there are times that he chases the baby strollers in the mall just to see and touch the baby inside. Husband and I don't have plans of having another baby soon because we're not earning enough to support our family yet.

I'm an only child. I loved it when I was younger. I liked being alone and as an only child I had that option. I didn't have to put up with anyone. I could go on my own whenever I wanted. My mother always talked about giving me a sibling but I never wanted one. I like kids and all, but I'm not the type to have one as a sibling.

I loved being an only child. You never have to share anything and you can have friends over whenever you want, you don't have to worry about your sibling having a friend over the same night. Also, you get to spend more time with your parents and develop a better relationship with them. I would not tell others to give an only child a sibling.
