Careful hygienic preparation and storage of weaning foods is crucial to prevent contamination. Hands should be thoroughly washed with soap and water before preparation and feeding, and the cookig area and utensils must be clean. The foods should preferably be fresh, cooked or boiled well and if feasible, prepared immediately before they are to be eaten. If food has been kept for over twon hours, it is desirable to reheat it thoroughly until it boils before consumption.
