Little black dress approved deodorant...does it work for you?

OK, I am sorry this is centered on women. But if your girlfriend, partner, or s/o uses this type of deodorant, then you can still respond. :) Do you find that this deodorant really works at no leaving marks? I am getting really frustrated because it does not always work. I haven't figured it out...but there are many of times that when I will take off my dark clothes and see the mark anyways. Maybe when it dries completely it will leave a mark. But either way, it is advertised that it is not supposed to leave any mark! Heck, there is even a commerical that has women take their clothes and turn them inside out to show there is not a mark! Does this work for you? Could the pH balance in a person's body change this quality of the deodorant? My daughter has the same problem. So, it isn't just me in my house that says it doesn't work. If it works for you, what brand do you use?

I am so glad you asked this question! With Spring and Summer time here, I will be wearing lots of tank tops. Every year I run into the same problem with the white marks. The only thing I've found that doesn't leave a white mark, or atleast not much of one, is the gel type of deodorants. But I really hate those cause they leave your armpits all wet, yuck!

My sentiments exactly! :) And if has already begun to get warm here...so I faced the problem of wearing a dark tank and getting white marks on the edge of the shirt under my arm. :(

I haven't found a deodorant yet that doesn't leave white residue on dark clothes- I use Dove and Secret. They are both great for smell and stopping smell-- but neither for leaving no residue. The commercials are fake- Like I tell my daughter- You cannot always believe what you see on tv- they probably didn't even have deodorant on! : )

That was my thought too...that they probably don't have deodorant on or they gave them a new shirt to put on inside out. ha ha

I don't think I've tried that brand in particular. But I've noticed others that claim the same don't work. I don't think any of them do. You know what I hate? Those little white balls lol, especially bad when you're wearing a sleevless shirt...I've found better luck with the spray deodorants/antiperspirants, except they make me sneeze for about an hour after using them. If I'm wearing a dark colored shirt, I just put it on first then the deodorant to avoid marking the outside of the shirt. I do think the ph can change the quality of the deodorant, so that may be it. Call the manufacturer of the company up and ask them, and tell them their product sucks lol, see if they'll give you a refund :)

YES! Those little white balls are SO terrible! it's awful when you lift up your arm and you happen to glance over and notice your armpit is covered in them.

hahahahaha Sorry, I am laughing at the little white balls comments! LOL But I know what you are talking about! hahahaha I can't use the spray because I have contacts. And I really do not suffer stink eye. I have tried to use it and close my eyes, but there is a mist that stays in the air. So I use to spray and run...but I am sure you could tell...that doesn't work well either with your eyes closed. LOL

I have never found a deodorant that actually does this. Like the Dove deodrant test they show on commericals. I did it and found marks and wasn't all that pleased with the product anyway. I always use Secret, though it at times leaves marks too, but not always. I dont' know what makes it leaves marks sometimes and other times not. This throws me for a loop. I have no idea if the ph of your body has something to do with it or what...I am clueless hehe

It has NEVER worked for me and I have tried all the ones that say it does. I love to wear black, in fact my closet is mostly black clothes so striving not to get that yukky deodorant mark is high on my list. To date I have been applying after the oufit is on, which is not the most effective manner we want to put it on, since coverage sometimes can be a problem. If you find a brand that works, please email me I would love to know which one it is. ~ Take Care ~

I must agree...i tried all the brand names in the stores who claim to not leave a white mark and all the clear gels and they still carry a little residue!!! However I discovered Mitchum for woman - clear gel, not only does it smell amazing but for the price i was amazed that it DID NOT leave a residue!!! try it

I do not think that I have ever tried Mitchum for women, but I have tried Degree that is kind of like that. Maybe I can try Mitchum someday in the future. Thanks for the tip!! :)

Hahaha! Great discussion. I was wondering if I should start a discussion about this...but you bet me to it! :) I agree with you. It does not work at all! I have tried three different types of Little Black Dress APPROVED deodorant and none of them seem to work. One of them also say invisible...No white marks/streaks. I either use Secret, Dove, or Degree. I have also seen the commercial where they ask the women to turn their shirts inside out. All of them do it, and none of them have white marks. Maybe they just put it on, right after a shower and came to work. Nah....maybe if they did have white marks, the people that made the commercial said to clean it, let it dry, then turn it inside out and wear it like that. You never know with commercials. You just hope that it works after you have bought it and figured out that it definitely does NOT! I love the smell of them though!! :)

I don't wear the black on top really anyway. Also I like Avons liquid type deodorants and Lady Speed stick anyway. The latter says no white marks. We just have that problem. Black is really for the waist down for us. It is neat to see that some still wear dresses and that appearances in this basic manner a concern. I will learn from this discussion I am sure. Thanks for starting it.

I don't think it works for me either! I gave up trying to find one too. For one thing, it always leaves a mark anyways, but it also dries out your skin soo bad that I can't stand feeling that way...lol I might just be weird, but it drives me crazy. I use Suave now, the white baby powdered stuff and it works just fine, I just put deo on last and be REALLY careful, lol.

I try to be careful sometimes too...but some shirts are not so nice sometimes. Just when I think I was careful...shoot! A white mark!

Well I know we have one ap-deo here in the UK .. that specifically uses the 'little black dress' blurb in their adverts and it definitely DOES show as a white mark on any black or dark material .. once tried never used again .. Personally I use Mitchum roll on .. it is definitely the very best ap-deo I have EVER used and it really does work and never leaves mess or marks on my clothes .. nor does it make the underarms of garments go 'hard' or feel clogged up ..

Those women probably just got out of the shower and they are getting paid more than you and I will ever make to do that commercial. Commercial deorderant does not work for me these days. I have been making my own for about a year now.

I do not mean this is a derogatory manner... Do you NOT make anything yourself? You could put Martha Stewart to shame! :)

I could not begin to tell you how many different brands of deodorants I have used over the years, including those ones that are little black dress approved. I guess that if there is one that actually works I have not found it yet. I really do not think that such a thing exists.

I've never used that particular brand but I've seen the advert for it on television. I've used others that claim to work, and I've found they don't. To that extent I use Soft & Dri roll on with power stripe. It works just as good as any other deodorant and the marks on dark clothing are only faint. On lighter clothes, you can't tell at all. I can wear a sleeveless top and not show any signs of having used a deodorant. Thats about as close as I think I'm going to get to not showing marks of deodorant.

I have used it and it seems to work better if you put it on and allow it to dry for a while before putting on your clothes it works a lot better.
