So, can we drink diet sodas while pregnant or not? I've heard some people say yes, some say not too. I look it up on the internet and get the same answers. Anyone know? I'm going to ask my doctor at my next appt. but I would like to know now.

I would not put artificial sweeteners in my body normally & definatly not when pregnant. I also give up caffiene when pregnant. Even different doctors will tell you different things.

I think its more to do with the fact of the caffiene content in the sodas. I used to caffiene free Coca Cola, because i couldn't go without sodas.

Yes - as long as you don't over do it. I am diabetic and when I was pregnant, obviously that is the only soda I can drink and my doc said it was fine as long as you only have a few a week. Do watch your caffine intake though - not good for you or baby =)

Drinking soda whilst pregnant is ok as long as it is in moderation. The caffiene intake is the best thing to look out for, as you do not want too much of this. So if you can, drink a caffiene free one.

Minimal harmful effects have been shown from the use of the artificial sweetener aspartame in pregnancy, according to Siobhan M. Dolan, MD. Like everything else, moderation is best. One daily diet soda or aspartame-sweetened yogurt is probably harmless.
