Strange Things Pets Do...

My daughter’s dog will pick up the pieces of food from his dish and carry them one by one to my living room rug before eating them. It would be funny to watch if it did not make me so mad that he will not keep his food in the kitchen where it belongs. Every time they bring him over to visit me, I have to carefully check my rugs wherever he may have left his food because it blends in with my rug. I would much rather sweep it from my kitchen floor. My cat refuses to drink from her dish. The only place she will get her drink from is from the fish tank. She never bothers the fish. They do not seem to mind her being there either. They will swim right up and brush against her tongue as she laps the water from the tank. It is funny to watch. We have tried to get her to drink from a dish for several years but she refuses. I guess she must like the taste of this water better. I guess its ok since she never bothers the fish. Do your pets have any weird habits you would like to share? I would love to hear what strange things your pets do.

haha, my cat is crazy! she loves to sleep on the stove, in big soup pots! she also loves to sleep on top of the dish washer when its running, and she loves to run in circles in the bathtub. Why? I have no idea! LOL! Shes a cutie though!! and my rats, well thats a whole nother story! They do kung fu all the time, lol. And when we take them out to play, if my voice sounds excited they start hopping like bunnies! And if their food bowl is hungry and they want food they will run into it so it makes noise so I know they want to eat. If they are thirsty they sleep under their water bottle! I tell ya, I love animals!!

That would be so cute to watch your animals. It sounds like you have a regular circus going on at your house!

I have had dogs in the past that did the same thing too. It can be very funny, but frustrating. I have had one of my cats in the past drink out of the fish tank, but he eneded up eating all 6 of them in the end. Animals do the funniest things at times.

My cat has never bothered the fish. Even when she is lapping up the water and the fish swims up and brushes against her tongue, she just keeps lapping away at the water. It does not even faze her. It is so funny to watch.

I once had a guinea pig that would eat turkey. One Thanksgiving I broke off a small peice and let the piggies smell it; they all ran away from it except him. He took a little bite then grabbed the piece off me and went to eat it. One dog we had hated birds so he would run, full speed into the glass patio doors. No matter how many times he bonked his sount off it, he kept doing it. Even funnier, I'd leave the patio doors open from time to time and he'd be going so fast he'd trip over the metal runner track on the floor. Pets are great companions and they really do some funny things. Over the years I have had tons of weird pets like a three legged rat and a one eye hamster. Pet shops would have checked these in a snake tank for food if I hadn't adopted them and they were truly some of the best pets I've had.

You would think that your dog would have learned eventually, but I guess some of us never do. I will never understand why people would destroy an animal because of a handicap. Just because they are not perfect does not mean that they do not make great pets. After all, we do not discard humans when they have a handicap.
