I know I need to get some things done, but instead I sit here at the computer....typing away....responding to discussions. I keep thinking I've got stuff to do, I need to get off the computer, but then I see another good discussion and just HAVE to respond! So now what am I doing? Starting a discussion about how I'm on MyLot instead of getting things done like I'm supposed too!! LOL

I do the same thing. I say to myself a few more minutes, a few more minutes. Then my son wants to get on the computer and I still say a few more minutes. Will it ever end?

I am in the same boat as you melanie! I should be doing a lot of things now while the children are at school but no, I'm on here. It has become a bit of an obsession. Some days are worse than others. I have to get all my jobs done before I sit at the computer or I am stuck here!!!

You have a schedule that works for you. That's great! I like your bunny photo (avatar). Very cute!

I understand how you feel.. As I tend to have this problem as well. I find sometimes I end up putting the things I need to get done on the back burner.. And instead of going ahead & doing them on that particular day I end up spending my time online instead.. I end up feeling rather guilty afterwards quite honestly when I do this.. As I think it is very important to get the most important things done before hand.. I have honestly tried to start a schedule for myself. As I have found that when I allow myself to get behind in things.. That it only honestly sets me back in the long run.. I've learned that I would much rather get the things that need to be done around the house before hand.. Or the things that need to be done outside of the house before I do anything else.. You may want to start a schedule for yourself.. Or what like someone else has done set a timer.. So that when the timer goes off you end up getting off for a bit.. Just so you can get some things done around the house, or whatever it is that you may have to get done wherever it may be.. I know I set a timer for myself as well sometimes. As it has been rather beneficial in the end as it has allowed me to get more things done ahead of time.. Instead of allowing them to build up days later.. I know it is important to set limits for ones self.. I know that is what I am trying to do currently when it comes to being online for all to long.. I know I don't want to spend all of my time on here.. As I have noticed when I do end up going ahead & doing this that it sets me back in the long run more than anything.. I want to prevent this from occurring.. Though it is a lot easier said then done.. As I know I say this sometimes & like you I still find myself sitting on the computer instead.. I think quite honestly that I have the same problem you do sometimes.. Maybe we both need to set a schedule for ourselves.. Or even time ones self so when it is time to go off.. Then you push yourself to get off so you don't end up getting further behind in the things you may need to get done.. I do find this site to be rather addicting sometimes.. From the sounds of it you are not the only one going through this.. As I know I am as well currently! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

LOL, my friend. We call that procrastination. Like the ring of this bombastic word? :P I think it is alright to drag your feet on certain things from time to time. BUT, if something really needs to be done pronto, then you have no choice but to see to it.

Yes, procrastination because I'm doing the fun stuff instead of working. I do get my other things done, just kind of rush through them a little more. If I have something really pressing I do turn off the computer and get it done.

I completely understand what you are saying. I have done the same thing so many times in this short amount of time that I have been a member of mylot. I love interacting with others by responding to their postings and I love to hear what others have to say about my discussions that I post. Mylot is such a great place to gather and get great advice and to try to give good advice. I have met some great people here and I am very glad that I have joined. Don't feel guilty about being on mylot...well as long as you are not neglecting your duties too much..lol Just know that we do deserve to have some time to ourselves in order to do what entertains us...with that being mylot. lol Thanks for the post. Have a great day/night.

Don't feel bad, i think that over half of the people on mylot do the exact same thing. People always say things about others being on the computer but if they were to happen to get on the Internet, they would probably be doing the exact same thing. I need to clean my house but instead I am on the computer. I try to limit myself so that I am not always on here. I don't being interupted when I am typing away but there always seems to be something that stands in my way and then I have to make up for that time lost, either that or I am just using it as an excuse to be on here longer. lol.

We're all on the same boat. Just this morning I planned to go to the dentist to check on a broken tooth. I didn't make an appointment so I opted to spend my time on myLot instead. I thought I might just do it tomorrow but right now my tooth is aching and I can feel that it could be swollen by tomorrow. MyLot is addicting!

I find myself doing the same thing. I look at it like this though. At least, I am being productive and making a little money. Housework or money? That is an easy question as I hate to clean house. I know that I have to but I just don't want to. I do have laundry going now and the dishes are done so I am not in too bad of shape,I guess. I need to sweep the bathroom and mop, but I probably won't as I want to post 50 posts today.

Haha, I have found the same addiction! I have set a limit though. I set a timer for an hour and whenever the timer goes off I must get off the computer. Yesterday I stuck to my goal and was off in an hour and I ended up painting my whole garage. I felt so good that I was able to accomplish so much in a day. That will influene me to get off more often and do something more productive with me time! Good luck to you and your addiction as well!

I am in a similar situation with you. I keep reminding myself that I've got stuff to do, but I just cant put away my laptop. The difference from you is that I'm not always on Mylot, but just chatting with my friends online or playing video games. I make my schedule every day, but I never stick to it for I am always distracted by my laptop. It is just so comfortable to have my laptop on my lap and have a cup of milktea in my hand.

There was a time, when I was like you. I could not get off the computer, yet I knew I had to do something...just one more reply...one more discussion. It end's..trust me. Once you get tired of the same type of discussion's, about how some people cheat etc. It get's tiring. You are still fairly new with 671, so I am thinking at about 1000, it start's to get boring. I just came back after about a month vacation, so right now I am posting a lot of replies but then I get bored and go away

all i can say is welcome to the world of procrastination! you're not the only one who's not getting any work done because you're constantly reading and posting comments. i know it's fun to be able to put into words what you think, share your ideas, just let your thoughts flow and in return get paid. but please, to stop your world just because of this? that is not good. you have to set limits. from experience, delaying things is not good. i was once addicted to this site where you could post all your photos. i was always sitting in front of the computer organizing my albums and then when i'm finished i'm too tired to do any thing so i end up sleeping and not doing any school work or reading. my grades went down and i lost my scholarship. since then i said i would only use the internet for research and that i'll have plenty of time for internet during vacations. so before you get addicted set limits. you could shorten your mylot time gradually. focus your mind on the things that needs to be done and their importance.
