My baby granddaughter has discovered a new treat. today she stuck her finger into the fish tank and the fish swarmed her and started touching her finger, now she asks for me to hold her up so the fish can kiss her hand. She doesn't speak well yet because she is only 16 months old, but she will point to the fish tank and say 'sish kiss hand'.

from my experience, fish wont live long if we frequently stuck our hand in aquarium.

They are guppies, and breed like---well--- guppies. I don't think that a few less would do any damage. And Indeed, I wash her hands before and after.

About once a month I take out about a dozen of the least colourful ones and give them to my daughter to feed her predator fish. They are definitely cheaper than buying feeder guppies for them, and I find they are more active as well.

That is adorable. Just remember to have her wash her hand really good before and after she does this. I actually had a bad experience with a fish "kissing my hand". Years ago my mom had huge angel fish in her tank and she asked me to feed them brine shrimp. I stuck my hand in the tank not really thinking bout it and when the fish bit me, it cut my finger. It was just a little worse than a paper cut, but it hurt (I know I am a baby).

Lol you're not a baby, I have a midas/red devil one of the two, and he's scrathced up my hand pretty good, drawing blood as well. And it does hurt lol. I was going to say the same thing, be sure to wash her hands good. I just got my goldies back out to their pond, and my 16 month old discovered them as well, and loves to splash at them. She's calls them the shishies too lol :)

And make sure that the tank is secure so that if she tries to climb up the tank will not tip over on her and hurt your child. Also make sure that she does not have any soap or other things on her hands that can kill the fish and afterwards make sure to clean her hands in case there might be something that could hert her (nost likeluy not but just a something to think about)

The tank is secure, its above her head, on a large heavy tv stand that even I can't knock over. She has to be lifted up to even look into the tank

That is cute, but I hope she won't decide to crawl in with the fish sometime when adults are out of the room. Maybe your fish tank isn't that large. I had a 30 gallon one at one time, but decided it was too tempting for the grandkids so I disposed of it. Now I'm wishing I had it back. Watching fish are so much fun. I may start over.

luckily, she can't reach it unless she is held up. its above her head, and the top is nearly 4 feet from the floor
