You should always take an antibiotic (or other medication) for as long as your dr. tells you to take it. Some people stop taking antibiotics when they start to feel better, but the virus may not have been killed off yet, just weakened. So the virus can acquire immunity to the antibiotic, which means it won't work for you if you have to take it again.
