Nowadays With digitals being so compact I tend to carry mine everywhere. I have even shot some news happening and sent it in the the TV station for the evening news heck i got 50 bucks its was for a weather story. but i like having it because you never know when you can catch a candid shot.I was wondering how many of you carry yours on a daily basis Cheryl

I don't carry my digital camera around, but I do my cell phone which has a camera. The digital camera is fairly new so I'm afraid I'm still getting used to it and can't catch a "Kodak moment" before it has passed.

I always want to try to do this, but almost never manage to do it. I should just toss my camera in my backpack so I'll have it with me at all times. I have a very compact camera too, so I could easily fit it with me. I bring it with me on days where I think I'll see something, like flowers. Or I'll bring it with me when I'm volunteering if I expect something cool that day. But I missed the arrival of the first elephant seal pup since I don't always bring my camera. I have a good reason there though, I'm afraid it might get wet.

I actually did buy waterproof housing for my camera, it's just that with the housing the camera won't fit nicely in my pocket. The pup was actually born quite a ways north of us, so we saw it after it was already orphaned.

omg thats amazing about the pup and totally understandable. But you know my mother in law has a water proof digital camera because she takes coastal wave shots all the time and get mist on her camera and has ruined many. I'm sure you have no need for an expensive one like hers but i thought it was neat. my question to you is did anyone get pictures of the seal pup being born?? I love marine life ..I don't know if you have read any of my posts but on the island where i live we are lucky to be surrounded by many species of whales seals dolphins and water birds ..I go whale cruising every chance i get to see these gorgeous creatures..what were we talking about again??? oh yeah cameras lol..sorry got lost there.. thanks so much for responding and listening to my rambling Cheryl

Unfortunately, our news stations don't give a crap about any photos we take. If we're lucky, they will put them on the air, but they rarely pay. I've sent pictures to the news and they just ignore them. I only carry my camera when I know I would want to take pictures. Luckily, I carry it quite often.

Please forgive my language in the first sentence. It just irks me that our news media here is that way.

if I carry my briefcase, I have it during my working day. If not, I will only have it on my free time or when I make a point to take it. It is very easy to have...but there are sometimes I just can lug everything around (cell phone, note pad, pda, etc.)

I do carry a camera most places, but its not a digital, I have a couple of Nikon SLR cameras that I work with, so I always have one of those on me in bag with a couple of lens's I have tried the smaller digitals and not been so happy with the results, so I am at the moment saving for one of the Nikon SLR digitals as my collection of lens's will be transferable to the newer addition, Well done for getting paid for one of your photos too! Bet its feels great to have got that too. Lynn-Marie

I don't have an ordinary camera, the only camera I have is a digital, and I always carry it around in the car! Just in case there is an accident or someone bangs my car, then I can record it in case there is a problem with my insurance claim, extra proof! But in the car there it stays, banished until needed (or hopefully not needed as is the case)

My daughter is planning a career in photography. She carries her digital camera everywhere with her. One of the local professional photographers in our area has looked at her work and has encouraged her to continue. He said he was very impressed with what she can get out of a simple digital and he looks forward to seeing what she can achieve with a professional camera. She has a water bottle that she is throwing her spare change into. She calls it her "camera fund". My daughter has found a camera she really wants and it costs $800.00. I am glad she is focused in her goals. A few of her photos have been published in the town's newspaper. The newspaper editor also likes her photos a lot and mentioned that when she is old enough, he would like to talk to her about taking photos for the paper on a more regular basis. I think that is quite a compliment for a young lady with a camera.

I carry my digital camera pretty frequently, but I don't have one of the compact models anymore-- my little Nikon went on the fritz, and I haven't yet decided if I'm up for the $157 repair estimate. Which means I only have a large "semi-professional" camera I use in my work, and that's not as convenient to just "always carry with me" for when the occasion persents itself... it requires a little more planning. That said, since I like to photograph, I often "plan" to be in places that will have good photo ops, and I bring the camera with me.

i sure do carry my camera everywhere with me. i have always loved to take pictures. i like trying to capture fun moments for the great visual memory. i have so many photoalbums, its crazy. well, now i am a very proud mom and i need to have the camera everywhere i go. i dont want to miss a great shot. i have pictures of him at the beach, with freinds, playing in the snow...just about everything a child does. the only bad thing is that i have so many pictures, i dont know which ones to get rid of. i might have the same kind of picture about 10 times. i am doing a scrapbook for him, so i only need a couple of pics at the most to fill a page. once i pick those, i hate to think that i am not going to use the other pictures. i dont delete them though, i just save them onto a cd. i love that cameras are digital now instead of the roll of film we used to have to deal with!

I generally don't carry my camera unless it's specifically for a photo outing. It's hard to find the room for the thing. I recently started carrying around a Canon PowerShot S410. Sure beats out my Rebel XT in terms of taking up space.

I carry my digicam with me where ever I go too. However, in the community where I live, it is not so polite to shoot pictures of people, at the face. However, I still take pictures, pretending that I'm a tourist!

That is so cool! I've always thought about taking shots of trees and skies and scenery that I would like to paint at a later date, but never have managed to do it. Part of it is because I go to work, go home, go to work, go home...I don't get out and about very much. I do take it to work some to take pics of new wedding cakes I do.

I don't carry my camera. In fact I don't take pictures nearly as often as I should. My poor baby is going to think we didn't love him when he gets older since we never seem to take any pictures. I did take some funny ones of him the other day when he was stuck in the cat's little cube. I try to take more pictures of him, it's just so hard to remember where I even put the camera! The baby likes to grab it and hide it, so that makes it even harder.

winter run - I live for runs like this....
I have the internet to thank for bringing a whole new dimension into my life. With sites like mylot, who let you upload pictures, I was encouraged to start taking my small digital camera with me every time I go for a run. Now for really the first time, I am truly taking in the nature that surrounds me as I make my way along miles of pathways along the river. Every morning I see a different sunrise, some wildlife, or perhaps a magnificent blanket of snow like in the picture I left for you. It can be breathtaking at times and every picture you take is capturing a moment in time that will never, ever be repeated..........how special is that?
