Who amongst us myLotians rate discussions?

If I find a discussion interesting or funny i'll rate it with a +ve. Do other people bother to do this too? Who leaves comments on other users' photo's, or who bothers to rate them either? Sometimes i'll go and have a peek and give a +ve rating (I don't leave -ve ones, people that do that are morons!) and sometimes i'll leave a comment. Just wondering, like you do ....

Well I figure some people must do the rating, since I had a ten and now I am 9 and I have had different numbers in that star. I do leave ratings because if I am responding to a discussion then I have something to say so I will leave a plus, and I will usually leave plus ratings on almost all those who respond to discussions I post, because if they took the time to respond then I should at least take the time to reply, rate or both. I may not always have a contributing response, or it may be a repetative one, so I will just leave the rating. My idea of a - rating is to just not leave a rating at all. I have left two negative ratings on a different site, in one case someone was basically responding in an extremely offensive way to what was an honest question. It is rare however that I would bother to leave negative and I have not encountered that here on my lot where where anyone has been so vulgarlly offensive. So I like to leave positive ratings, when I am in a topic, not just for the posted topic, or for the response to my topic but I will also leave positive rating for those responses that I really like, or even may disagree with but feel the one who wrote it gave some good points, or obviously gave sincere thought to their side of an issue.

Hello Nowment. I also like to leave positive ratings, but on occasion I do leave a negative if someone is being really abusive in other discussions. I don't rate negative in my discussions, but I feel that if a person has bothered to make a response I will respond back and leave a positive. However there are those irritating one liners that one comes across, often so badly abbreviated that it doesn't make sense, so they don't get rated at all! Thanks so much for responding!lol

That's an awful thing to put in that sort of discussion. Bad Karma to them! I saw a response to a religious topic the other day and one person said that another person's views were a load of horsecrap. I like to steer clear of the religious ones! lol

i do always. whenever i respond to any discussion, i rate it POSITIVE (obviously i answer the ones which i find appealing, hence positive). i rate pictures aswell, very seldom though, only the times when i don't feel like thinking and typing. i never negative rate anyone, i just ignore it, that's how am i. dear, i just rate you positive.

Yes, I do rate discussions and responses feralwoman. For a start if a discussion is worthy of a response from me, then it will merit a positive (+) or else I wouldn't bother to respond to it at all. When I am reading through responses to both my own and other discussions I will rate them positive (+) if appropriate. Not every response merits it of course, because in my opinion that takes away the value of the rating system. So, the good ones get a positive and the rest get nothing, except if it is totally out of order then it will either get a report to myLot or a negative rating. Generally if it is bad enough for a negative, then it is bad enough to report to myLot. For a negative, the person would need to be abusive, spamming or totally off the topic of discussion. I also check out the photos/images that have been downloaded and will rate them, positive only or else I ignore them. Some people have commented on inappropriate photos being downloaded, well I don't even bother with those discussions so I don't see them. A photo deserves to be rated the same as a discussion or a response does, in my opinion anyway. With my own discussions, I will go back and award a best response to them at a later time, when the responses have slowed down to a trickle. OR when for some reason myLot "unresolves" them, and I have to do it all over again.

Hello Ossie. I do the same too and agree that if a response is worthy of a negative then it's usually worthy of reporting to myLot. Thanks for responding. lol

I rate every discussion that I respond to with a +!!! And I have left comments on several users pictures. Sometimes it's fun to visit other's profiles and see what pictures they have - as to whether they are personal or just great pictures they have taken themselves!! There's always something interesting out there that we may not have seen yet!!! What's sup with you these days??

Hello there mate! I've not been around for the last few months - I've got another website i'm working on! I like to look at users' pictures too and will also rate them. It's fun exploring!! I also rate discussions I respond to with a +, and if someone needs a boost i'll rate their responses with a + too! Been a bit down in the dumps and not able to leave the house at the moment! How you doing? ;) LOL

I try to rate every discussion I read and get reponses to. I think it is an important feature, and I must admit, I think it's really fun too! Good topic by the way!

I just noticed the rating system yesterday and I only rated the people who have replied to my discussions for now. Sometimes I just forget to rate it. I have never rated photos though. I was thinking of budgeting time here at mylot. like i'll post for 2 hours, then the next hour, I'll be uploading photos and the next would be rating. But I'm doing everything spontaneously now.

Hi there, I think it's important to allocate your time wisely on myLot. I try and do it for around 2 hrs a day, but i'm completely spontaneous in what I do. I'll rate as I go along these days. Hope you're enjoying it here at myLot - thanks for responding! lol

yes, I leave ratings in a lot of discussions, both mine and other people's. On the whole, they're mainly positive ratings... I very rarely leave negative ones, although I must admit I did so once, so call me a moron if you like, but this guy was a top-grade agitator. He upset everybody in sight and most people agreed with me when I said I was leaving a negative. Brightest Blessings.

Greetings Darkwing. He he, what I meant in my own shambled way of saying it was that people who post negatives just because they disagree are morons! You certainly aren't one LOL. I post negatives too, but only with good reason too. Whether someone agrees with me or not is no skin off my nose! Thank you so much for responding. lol

I find that I rate all the discussions I get involved in and also any pictures too. Sometimes I don't have as much time as I would like to spend on MyLot so those days I have to pick and chose where I look but mostly I do rate.

I really rate discussions specially if it is from my friends discussion before I responded I really secure it that I rate it because it is important. Leaving a discussion behind without rating is unfair to the member specially if she/he deserve to be rated +.

These days I think I have finally gotten in the habit of rating the discussions I read... it did take me several weeks of being on the site before I figured out it was "part of the deal" of being here. And yes, I do sometimes rate photos, as well. The thing I find confusing is that we can leave comments on ANY discussion... but in order to leave a comment on a photo, we must be friends with the poster.

Hi there Denmarkguy! Yes, it is a bit of an anomaly not being able to rate photos other than your friends ones. A valid point you have there. Thanks so much for responding. lol
