Death of a co-workder

We just got word that a coworker died of cancer. He had been with the department for over 20 years, and was very well liked. I knew him and liked him, and am sorry he is dead. But while everyone around me is crying and upset, I feel differently. I will miss him, but the cancer had spread throughout his body. He fought hard, but in the end was in a lot of pain. I am glad he is not suffering any more. Not that I'm glad he's gone, but in a way I am. Is there something wrong with me?

No I certainly don't thing anything is wrong with you. Everyone griefs differently. And what you've described seems more like feelings of relief, for your friend. Who knows after some time passes maybe a tear come maybe not, nothing wrong with this.
