There was an NGO (non gov't organization)who comes to our office to scout for blood donors for the purpose of having a blood bank and provide blood to those who badly needs it. Most of my officemates donated blood. I also wanted to donate but I had second thoughts because I took a medicine for my allergy the night before. I was also scared. Anyway, I had my blood screened and they took blood from me, around 300ml. Don't know if my blood passed the screening. Some say that giving out blood is also good for your body too. Is this true? What about you, have you been a blood donor before? How doest it feel? Were you scared? Would you donate blood if somebody ask you for it?

I used to donate blood joyce buthave not been able to for some years now as I have a vitamin b12 deficiency and become anaemic easily! I don't really know if it is good for your body to donate blood but I have heard this said before! If I could I would donate blood - you could be giving someone the gift of life!

I went once to give blood when I was in my twenties and it wasn’t accepted as they told me I was anaemic. I was really disappointed as I wanted to get the badge and a pen and all I got was a cup of tea. I never went back since and I guess I am too old to donate blood now.

Don't worry, I know your good intention to donate blood is there. But there are cases that no matter how we really like to donate blood, it can not be because of some requirements that a blood donor must have. Thanks for responding.

I donate blood every chance that I get. To me it is a small way of helping someone, even if I don't know them. The very first time I did it I was a little scared, but after I did it, it just didn't seem like that big of a deal. I also see it as a little mini-check-up. I don't know about where you gave blood, but the organizaion that I donate through will send you a card in the mail that has your weight, blood pressure, colesterol level, and blood type on it. About it being good for you? Don't know, but I know that I feel good about what I am doing.

That's really a great act of helping others. Well, my officemates received a card from the organization. I didn't receive mine, don't know why. I would love to donate blood as long as I'm qualified. Thanks for sharing.

I would like to donate blood if I am capable and my blood passes the screening test. I know it is one way to help others who are badly in need. In doing so, it will also save lives of other people who needs blood.
