I would like to get better at making jewelry and would like to know where to buy beads, patterns and chains..do you do it for money? how does it sell..I live on a main route to Adirondack Mts. would like to try selling some. Do you know where I can read on how to make jewelry? Thanks for the time to read this and any help you can give me.

I've been making jewelry since I was about 8yrs old and selling it for about 7yrs now. I still dont make enough to live on but I'm not doing it to get rich I do it because I love it and it cant just be a hobby for me its an addiction and an expensive one at that. A good resource to look at for materials are firemountaingems.com they offer a free catalogue and lots of helpful information. What kind of jewelry are you interested in?

Making jewelry for profit is sort of hard. I have spent a LOT of money on jewelry making because it's a really fun hobby and I love it, but I have only sold one thing since I started, and I've spent... more than $200 on supplies. I buy a lot of stuff from various sites, ebay, and at craft stores in town. If you are interested in taking a look at any of my stuff, my link is www.tangerinesunshine.etsy.com

I've tried to do it for money, and now I wish I hadn't spent that money on jewelry because I've never sold any of my pieces. It seems like too many people have this hobby. The good thing is though, I can use what I have to make gifts for years to come! I bought my supplies from www.jtv.com
