Have you ever been stung by a bee?

If so, where was the sting? Are you allergic? I'm not allergic, but I have stepped on several bees when bare foot. I have had a bee fly up the leg of my jeans. I have drank out of a can of grape soda that had a bee in it and been stung on the tongue! When I was one and a half I disturbed a wasp nest and was stung over most of my body. On another ocasion, I was on a boat in the middle of a lake and a bee flwe out of who knows where, landed on my hand and stung me! I have even been stung by a wasp while watching (from a safe distance) people poking around the nest while they were hunting lizards. I have never been stung while gardening, however. How about you? Are bees out to get you, too, or do they leave you alone?

I've never been stung by a wasp or a bee. But I've always been afraid of being stung. I was, however, stung by a scorpion. So, I went to the allergist & he tested bee, wasp, scorpion & ants. He came back & looked at my tests. "What is number 4?" he asked. "Ant," the nurse told him. "This can't be ant, what is it?" "Its ant," she said and dropped the chart down next to him. "It is ant!" he said after looking at the chart. "Have you ever had any difficulty after being stung by ants?" he asked me. "No," I said, "but if I scratch it up to a month later the spot will come back." He gave me shots for when I get stung by ants. In fact, the first time I gave my OWN shot was when I had gotten ant stung - on the hand I was trying to give myself the shot with!!! I had to hold that hand still with my other hand!

Wow, ants and scorpions! My husband has to use those shots, too, only he never brings them with him! It must be scary to have to worry about that. Do you get all swollen up?

I've only been stung once, and that's cause I stepped on the poor thing! It hurt like heck. My niece drank from a soda can while we were camping once and got stung on the roof of her mouth. Now we always use cups with lids while outdoors. Never had any odd experiences like yours. Sounds like you must attract them with your sweet nature, lol.

I am paranoid about soda now too, after my little adventure with the bee in the can.

I've been stung three times. Twice while bike riding and once while I was sitting at a bus stop. One flew in my mouth and stung my lip, another flew down my shirt and stung me on the lower neck, and one stung me in my hand when I was tying to shake it off my hand. I'm not really that afraid of bees since I've been stung a few times and nothing's really happened.

I haven't been stung by a bee as far as I can remember, but once I was stung by a black hornet I had sat on in the car. The sting at first I did not really feel, but I started feeling heat in the back of my thigh, and it grew hotter and hotter until it felt like I was on fire back there. I started jumping around behind the wheel, finally got pulled over and scrambled out the car door. Sure enough I had to pull its body out of my slacks and leg. The area stayed sore and hot to the touch for a few days. But other than scaring the chit out of me I was fine.

Ouch! I think that is the one kind I haven't been stung by. It's funny how sometimes they really hurt and other times they don't. I wonder why that is?

Yes I have been stung a lot of times. The big thing is too make sure the stinger is out. IF it is still in then the sting will be a lot worse. Out in the country wasps like to build nests in the ground. When you mow over the top, You dont even realize they have nest there. I find out I went over the nest, when the wasps are dive bombing me. The only thing you can do is run, or more wasps will sting you. Later on you can find the hole in the ground. I find I waite until the morning and actually dig the nest out of the ground and spray it. No more trouble.

I hate wasps. They can sting you multiple times. They are the ones whose nest I wrecked when I was little and I guess hte impression of their fury has never left me. We had what we thought was the beginning of a nest but nothing materialized in our wall. Tha must be horrible to be mowing and running them over. I can imagine the scene of you running and them chasing?

I have been fortunate enough to only get stung by a bee once in my lifetime. I was about 10. We were having a neighborhood game of Kick the Can. I was going to hide under the big pine tree we had in our front yard. I sat down to squiggle under the branches and OUCH, I sat on a bumble bee. I ran to my Mom, crying about my butt hurting because I think I got stung by a bee. She checked it out, removed the stinger and put some peroxide on it. I was good to go and went back out to play. As long as I can see the bees and wasps, I can take care of them. I worry more about my dog getting stung. Last year she was attacking something in the back yard. I went and saw that she was trying to eat a yellow jacket that was laying on her back in the grass, buzzing madly. I stepped on it. You should have seen the look on my dogs face, as if to say, "Hey, that was mine"!

Yes I was stung by a bee once when I was taking my clothes off the line. I looked down at my thumb when I felt a slight sting and there was the stinger twisting around in my thumb. I pulled it out and sucked my thumb hoping to get the venom out. Then I went into the house and put some antibiotic on it and bandaged my thumb up. I thank God that I wasn't allergic to it.

I have been stung and I am not allergic. The worst that I have been stung is while I was riding my bike down a huge hill and I ran into a bee that stung me on my belly. OUCH! I still have the scar and that was about 30 years ago.

I think I am allergic, because my dad is... but I am not sure because I have never been stung. I am terrified of bees. When I see one, I RUN! My aunt is even MORE terrified of bees than I am! Once she was holding her 1-year-old baby, and she saw a bee fly close to her, and she DROPPED the baby and ran!

Oh yes when i was stung by a bee i was only four and i got in my foot i think i was screaming for about fiftenn minutes before we got it out! That good i am not aligerc this is what of happend if i was! In the case of a systemic reaction, the person may break out in hives. Other symptoms include wheezing, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, faintness, and swelling. If a person has these symptoms, it's important to get help immediately. It hardly ever happens, but severe allergic reactions to bee stings can be fatal if the person doesn't get medical help. this was found at kidsceath org

Wasps are really painful for some reason. I assume it is because they can sting multiple times. Does anyone know?

Wow, you are very unfortunate. I have only been stung my a bee once. Actually it was a wasp that stung me. I was doing a bit of gardening and it landed on my neck and before I had time to swat it, it had stung me. Now I am terrified of them. My wife doesn't seem to mind them, so if one gets into the house, she always tells me to go out of the room while she goes after the bee. Strange, she is terrified of spiders so she calls me to get rid of them, so now I am the spider killer and she is the bee killer...lol.

Luckily I'm not allergic because if there's a bee or wasp around they will definitely sting me! I'm always getting stung - usually on the arms but one did sting me on my foot when I was wearing sandals. That hurt! The worst one though was when a wasp had been flying around in my bedroom and I was trying to chase it out the window but then I lost it. Put my jacket on (which had been lying on a chair in the room) and then felt the little creepy crawly thing moving inside the sleeve. Horrible! I knew I was going to be stung - waiting for it to happen was almost worse than the sting itself and it seemed to take ages even though it was probably only a few seconds.

I'm happy to say that I've never been stung, and I don't want to be either! I remember my sister though getting stung a good few years ago and she was crying because it hurt so much. An experience I would rather go without..:)

You are very lucky! I don't know what I do, wear, eat or smell like that brings them down upon me. I wish I had never been stung. Your poor sister. It is starne, sometimes it is so much more painful then others. I think maybe sometimes they sting directly into a nerve and those are the stings that hurt for a couple of days.

Thankfully no! I seldom move around barefooted but then again, Singapore is quite urbanized. It is quite hard to find bees nowadays... fortunately!! :P
