Do you sneak food or snacks into the Cinema or Movie Theater ?

They soaked you for $8-$12. Now they want you to pay $4.50 for a drink, $3 for a candy bar who knows what they want for popcorn. The prices they charge can be outrageous to say the least. It must take about 30 people to change a movie reel. Otherwise their prices are unjust. I can have a really nice evening with my girlfriend for what it costs 2 people to go to the movies. So to cut costs do you sneak food into the movies?

Yes, i bring my own stuff to the movies, when i rarely go. it costs too much money. i'm not giving anyone 10 dollars for the movie to be interrupted by someone's screaming kid or the 14 year olds making out behind me. it's a rip off, and if they get my $10 to go in, they're sure as heck not getting 15 more from me for candy, soda and popcorn. And, what if you bring in food that they don't sell in the theater? is that still prohibited? :)

It shouldn't be if they do not cater to your needs. Would it be ok to say "I'm vegan" and take your own items because they do not cater to your needs? As for the interruptions I have had some instances in movie theaters. One time in particular someone said what was going to happen. Needless to say I got up Found where they were and went off. I didn't hear another peep from them. It is a shame you have to threaten someone with bodily injury to get them to respect you. That is the problem with the world. No respect. If someone like that will not respect me because I am human... then they can respect me out of fear.

Welllll.... I have to answer this very carefully because I don't want the MOVIE POLICE to come to my door to arrest me if I've snuck food into the theater.... Just kidding. ;) Actually yes I have... Sometimes I will buy popcorn and once in a great while a drink or candy but it's cheaper to sneak it in your purse, which I do. I used to sneak popcorn sometimes but it's funner (for me) to buy it at the theater.

I usually buy water at the local convenience store and take it in. If they didn't want twice as much for it I would buy it there. If I worked in a movie theater I wouldn't care what people brought in as long as they didn't leave it on the floor and it didn't make a bunch of noise. What happened to the days when it was common to bring a tomato or two to toss at the stage. =)

Oh yes I do it all the time, the cinema I go to is in London and they charge £12.50/$23 just to go to see a film which is a rip off, then they have the audacity to charge you high prices for sweets, popcorn and drinks. So I always take a bottle of water with me and some sweets in my bag, no way I'm getting robbed twice, it is daylight robbery.

No I do not, because I do not go to movies in the theater, even at senior and matinée prices I still can't afford to pay for a ticket so I just wait a few weeks and It comes out of video and rent the movie and sit at home in comfort, no cost for snacks, parking, etc. I just turn on my TV hit Video on demand and watch the latest and the best at about $5.00 a pop. If you want to take your girlfriend out some place nice have a picnic in the park, go swimming, bowling. play pool. go to a community sponsored dance. I know the local club that have dances every Friday night and the cost is about $8.00 per couple, that way you get to meet the people in your community and have fun, if none of this is available start a group. of young singles and have your own movie nights dances, bowling group. You can have a lot of fun if you are willing to do some of the work. but if you expect it to be provided for you, you will of course have to pay and pay lots.

That is the way to go. Watch it at home. When I lived in Florida I saw everything. I lived close to what I called the poor people's cinemas. It was $3 for movies that were out a couple of months or have passed their peak. It was great.

Ofcourse I do! I dont want to get to pay that much for a can of popcorn! So I cannot easily sneak in a can of popcorn, but you can buy a package of M&M's just to accompany you. And if its a bother to bring in a can of soda, you can always take in some carton packages with juice. You will enjoy the movie also and you are much much cheaper. If you go with more (girl)friends together and they all carry a normal purse, in every purse you can stuck somewhat for everyone. An idea???

I have used my girlfriends purse many times. This is my theory "If they charge a dollar less they might make 50 cents more." The theater has a stupid business outlook.

I hardly ever go to the movies. Mainly because the ticket prices seem to be high, plus as you were saying. The food there is expensive, plus I usually watch the movies on TV or buy the DVD. I generally do not buy anything at all because I think it is all overpriced. If I do want something I make sure I bring something to the movies with me. I think it costs too much when I can go buy me something cheaper (and probably healthier). I have hidden things in my pockets and coat and no one said anything. Have a nice day. Pablo

If I do go the the theater, I usually go for free. Ya gotta love fandango money. They buy tickets. When we go to the drive in, I take pop, candy, and pop corn. I do buy some but just to make me feel better.

If I do go to the snack bar it is with reservation...a medium coke a large popcorn and a bag of m & m's, can I have a credit application with that that please?.....And they wonder why people don't go to the movies anymore. I say bring back the drive ins please. We are fortunate here becaue we can take our drinks and candy in with us and they don't really mind. Guess they understand the economics of the area.
