I don't think all parents do no. I have certainly seen evidence to prove that some parents favour some or one of their children over the others.
As a parent I think this isn't good practice at all. It is important for children to know that they are well loved and treated the same way.

Oh yes parents love all their children equally. Its a common misconception arising in peoples mind that parents can be partial when they see parents pampering a kid more. There is no reason that a father or mother should discriminate their children. But its important that the parents make the children aware of this fact failing which serious issues like sibling rivalry can occur.

They should but it's not always the case. It's really sad and unfortunate. My mum always favoured my sister over me and it was really traumatic.
