It's strawberry season where I live, and my mom just brought me a whole flat of strawberries. I need to use them up quickly so they don't go bad. Other than strawberry shortcake, does anyone have any other interesting recipes?

An easy thing is strawberry freezer jam. Milkshakes or pies are also a great alternative for fresh strawberries! YUMMY and happy eating

Well I for one like to make strawberry persevers. There are many recipes out there for them. I also like to use them in salads or with jello. I keep things as simple as possible with them. You could also make a cobbler. I use the one from bisquick and just switch out strawberries for the fruit they mention: http://www.bettycrocker.com/Recipes/Recipe.aspx?recipeId=33961 Have fun baking :)

You could always make a fruit salad and get some other fruits to add to it or my favorite: take an 8 oz container of sour cream and mix it with strawberries and sugar until it is blended well (there is no set amount of berries really). Then serve it over waffles or pancakes or whatever else sounds good! I am so addicted to this that I make it once a week!!

aside from those many pies , cakes , and salads you can make out from strawberry you can also cook it with brown sugar and cinnamon powder then just like a half jam texture or just enough not to overccoked it to deform. you can put it in a bottle or plastic container and refrigerate it with the syrup it produces then use as toppings for pancake , waffle , ice cream , or a heated honey bun with whipped cream and chopped nuts. you can also eat this with a hot toasted bread as your spread or make into a sandwich. i have made also some strawberry sauce out from that recipe that i use as a dip or a side dish with my breaded pork chop and mashed potato. it's great!

Fresh strawberry smoothies or milk shakes are awesome! Strawberries also freeze well so if you don't think you can eat them all, freeze them. They are in season where I live too (Louisiana) and now I'm wanting some fresh strawberries! Yummm!

You can freeze them if you want to. That's what I do most of the time when I get a good price on a couple of flats of them. Wash them and then slice them up. Sprinkle a little sugar over them and let them sit in the refrigerator for a couple hours then put them into containers or bags and freeze them. When ever you want strawberries for a dessert or to make strawberry shortcake or cheesecake, they are right there waiting for you.

I love strawberries and I wish I could find some good ones in my store! I'm waiting patiently for the good stuff to come in. When I have strawberries I use them for a few different things. Shakes are popular with my son and husband. They love strawberry & banana shakes so I make those. Strawberries on waffles or pancakes are yummy for breakfast. Strawberry lemonade is really tasty and refreshing for spring time. Just mush some up in the bottom of your pitcher and then add your lemonade to it. Very yummy! If you have an ice cream maker you could make some strawberry ice cream! If not, then you can just add some to your vanilla ice cream as a topping. Strawberry pies are good too but I do not know how to make them. Like you said, strawberry shortcake seems to be a favorite. Fruit salad - mix up chunks of your favorite fruits including strawberries and enjoy with your lunches. Strawberries freeze really well so any extra that you have .. you should freeze and use later for shakes and smoothies or whatever else you might like. Enjoy your fruit!

Somehow I forgot to add our families favorite way to eat strawberries.. with a fruit dip. Mix up a container of whipped cream cheese with a jar of marshmellow cream. Mix well until smooth. Dip strawberries in it and enjoy. Very addicting and a favorite at our Easter gathering. You can add a second container of the cream cheese for a more 'cheesecake' taste. It's REALLY good, I'm warning you!

Oh wow! You are so lucky! Might I suggest making something that can be frozen and used at a time when strawberries aren't in season. For example there is Strawberry sauce. This sauce can be used to spoon over yogurt with fresh strawberries, ice cream, pound cake or your favorite dessert. Great as topping for pancakes and waffles too. Strawberry Sauce: 2/3 cup sugar 1 pint strawberries, washed and hulled 1/3 cup water 1 tablespoon lemon juice Place sugar and 1/3 cup water in a small saucepan, stir and bring to a boil. Simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool completely. Hasten cooling by setting pan in a shallow bowl of ice water. Place half the berries in the jar of a blender; add lemon juice and all the cooled syrup. Puree until smooth. Press through fine sieve to remove some of the strawberry seeds, if desired. Coarsely chop remaining strawberries and add to strawberry puree. There are also Strawberry muffins, smoothies, putting them in salads, strawberry jam....oh, I am even more jealous now :-) Enjoy them!

I love strawberry pies. Especially strawberry rhubarb or ones that have cream cheese in them. This recipe sounds pretty good. French Strawberry Pie - Diana Rattray, about.com 1 quart strawberries 1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese 1 baked pastry shell, 9-inch 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar 3 tablespoons cornstarch 1 tablespoon lemon juice red food coloring 1/2 cup heavy cream 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar PREPARATION: Wash, drain, and hull strawberries. Beat cream cheese with a fork until smooth. Spread cream cheese over bottom of the cooled pie shell. Stand half of the whole strawberries in the shell with tips up. Mash remaining strawberries; press through a sieve to remove seeds. Measure the strawberry juice, and if necessary, add water to make 1 1/2 cups of liquid. In a saucepan, mix granulated sugar with cornstarch; gradually stir in the strawberry juice mixture and the lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and clear, about 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in a few drops of red food coloring; remove from heat. Cool sauce for about 10 minutes, then pour over the strawberries in the shell. Chill for about 3 hours, or until firm. Beat cream with confectioners' sugar until mixture holds its shape. Spoon whipped cream in a ring around the edge of the pie. Store leftover pie in the refrigerator. Serves 6 to 8.

Mash them into a strawberry puree and freeze them. It makes a wonderful strawberry sauce to use with puddings and icecream.

I love strawberries, you can try this recipe. strawberry palova Don't be intimidated by making a pavlova. It's actually quite straightforward, so long as you follow a few basic rules while making the meringue. Top this heavenly pavlova with fat-free whipped topping and fresh strawberries INGREDIENTS: 3 egg whites 1/4 tsp cream of tartar 3/4 cup superfine sugar 2 cups fat-free whipped topping 1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries PREPARATION: Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Draw the outline of an upside down 8-9 inch plate on to the parchment. Place egg whites in a spotlessly clean metal or glass bowl.

Hi, this recipe is very easy and I liked so much ! Fabulous Strawberry Muffins Firm fresh strawberries work best in this recipe, but when the season is over substitute blueberries, cherries or chopped peaches. * 2 1/2 cup flour * 1/2 cup sugar * 2 teaspoons baking powder * 1 teaspoon baking soda * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 1 1/2 cup buttermilk * 1/3 cup melted butter * 2 eggs, slightly beaten * 1 teaspoon vanilla * 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped * Additional sugar for topping 1. Pre heat oven to 400°F. Spray muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray or line muffin cups with paper cupcake liners. 2. On a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt, stir well until all ingredient are well blended. 3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, butter, eggs and vanilla. Make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and pour liquid mixture in and the strawberries. 4. Using a large spoon, gently fold ingredients just until moist do not overmix. 5. Spoon the batter evenly into 12 muffin cups. Sprinkle each muffin with about 1/2 teaspoon sugar, if desired. 6. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Makes 12 muffins.
