That was adorable! Voices include Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, and Anthony LaPaglia. A wonderful surprise...Steve Irwin was the voice for an elephant seal. In the special features section, they show another scene in which he played an albatross. Anyway, from the very first scene, I was smiling and tapping my foot. This movie is chocked full of familiar music...latino, rap, boogie woogie, Elvis, songs by Prince and Gia...music you will recognize from the 50's, 60's, & 70's boy and girl groups. Lots of wonderful dancing and singing along with the music enhances the classic story of one who doesn't fit in trying to be normal but realizing that it doesn't work for him. He leaves on a quest to discover himself and to find out why the emperor penguins are not having enough fish to eat. Add some religious fanaticism from some of the elders and throw in some pentacostal-type preaching and you have a wonderful smorgasborg of personality types trying to learn to live together. It also promotes not putting garbage into the seas and cautions against over harvesting the fish population which would cause the decline and possible endangerment of the penguins. If you love musicals, or if you love singing and dancing as well as the wonderful voices...this is the movie for you! Absolutely enchanting! Both hubby and I loved this one and plan to buy it.

I have to be sneaky to get the hubby to watch an animated movie, but I am planning on this one at some point. My brother has the movie, so maybe i will make hubby a captive audience.

Yes, I just now finished watching this movie. It was fanrastic. Savion Glover did the choreography. He is a wonderful tap dancer. Funny how easily amused those humans were at the end. I think I must get the soundtrack. Great music. God Bless

The movie came in the theaters in December just in time for my sisters birthday and she LOVES penguins. She owns March of the Penguins I gave her the year before. She and me both loved this movie. We both love musicals. I bought her the cd and I have it almost memories the music is addicting. Especially boogie wonderland. That versions rocks and the song of the heart. It won a few oscars including best animated film even over the disney film Cars. Cool! I want to buy it and will in the used dvd's at hollywood video at end of month. I will give it to her because I dont want to own it but i am sure she does and we can still watch it together! :))

I thought the movie was charming. I like penguins a great deal and they were certainly adorable in this movie. I felt that that middle part was so dark that it was actually not appropriate for small children, though, and I didn't feel like I was adequately prepared for that. But it was a lot of fun with great actors and wonderful music.

It sounds like a good movie. Thanks for the review. I was thinking about getting this one for my three year old grandson...everyone is getting tired of watching Cars.lol. I didn't know that Steve Irwin did one of the voices. That makes the movie extra special.

When I saw Happy Feet, I walked in with a look of eager expectation on my face, glad that I was going to see what looked like it was going to be an awesome movie. I walked out with a look of, "What the?" all over my face. For about the first half of the movie, I was delighted. The first sign of trouble was the bird talking about "alien abduction" and Lovelace's "talisman". Then, I imagined the characters saying, "Hey, where are we going, and why are we in this handbasket?" This movie is a dressed-up propaganda film, using the guise of cute, dancing penguins instead of owning up to what it really is. Happy Feet could actually have DESERVED that Oscar it won, had it stuck to the adorable formula of the first part, namely, (awesome voice talent + penguins + adorable songs + adorable dancing x standard children's book story with some funny penguins spouting Latino slang = a good movie). However, they had to drag politics into it. The second half of the movie is dark and sad in ways that kids won't understand, and parents will never see it coming. Now, it won best animated picture because of its clear environmental message. Cars should easily have beaten it. But it didn't. Why? Because Hollywood is no longer focused on providing entertainment, it's focused on providing liberal propaganda films. Amount tendered: $0.02
