How'd you make someone's BIRTHDAY.. special?

I'd like giving flowers on birthdays. At times I buy cakes to give it to someone, especially to the special people. This is because I love to have flowers on my birthday too. Do you give presents on birthdays? If so what is it? Or you just simply greet the person?

I usally only do for my wifes birthday. This year I'm trying to find a boat to rent. Take it out to the lake and have lunch. I might get her a gift but uncertain as to what.

Oh, that's very thoughtful of you. But would it be more romantic if you'd go boating at night or perhaps under moonlight, after dinner.? :) (just a thought)

A doll for a friend is cute. Clothes are great since they will remember you when they wear that clothes. :)

I always make it a point of finding out what special things they are into. If they like to go to a concert, a special movie they want to see or a restaurant they want to go to and just don't have the money. On their birthday I will supply them with a ticket for the movie or concert tickets or treat them to the restaurant of their choice. When I found out where they want to go I make it a point of contacting the restaurant so while we are there they will come over to sing Happy Birthday. When we go into the restaurant I will say shortly after we are seated that I need to go to the restroom. I go out to my car and get the baloons, gift and card. They of course are in my trunk. I come back in and hand them to the person at the door and tell them what I want them to do. We eat our meal and than sit and talk awhile and than I incline my head and the things are brought to the table. The waitress sings happy birthday as she/he is walking to the table. I have done this more than a few times and my friends eat it up. The look on their face is reward 100 times over.
