Do you speak more than one language? How has it helped you in your life?

I speak English as my native language, but have studied Spanish. I would love to learn to speak it fluently, but so far haven't had the patience. I think it would really help me find a good job. I have thought for years that if I study psychology with a focus on hispanic people and the Spanish language, it would be easier for me to find a job as a psychological therapist. Have you had experiences like this? Do you think it would benefit me enough to put a tremendous effort into learning the language? (Btw ~ I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There are quite a lot of people here who speak Spanish as their native language.)

I would love to learn another language, (my husband speaks 2) he gave up trying to teach me because I am what is known in Britain as a cockney (have you ever seen Mary Poppins?) I even have trouble with my native language of English!!!!!! They say knowledge is power so go for it.

I studied Spanish in university. It's quite similar to our national language, Malay esp. the pronunciation. But the most difficult is conjunctions. Yo hablo, tu hablas, el habla, nos hablamos, os hablais, ellos hablan I hope they are correct!!!

I speak English and Spanish, and at the moment am learning turkish. I live abroad so it is a necessity to be able to speak the language of the country I live in. Keep trying with your spanish, it will certainly make finding jobs easier, no matter what career you want to take.
