I have been smoking for the past 10 years now. I started smoking for fun at quite an early age...... it started with just 1 smoke a day, but now I have reached a stage where I am like smoking 10 cigrates a day. I have reached a stage wherein I dont enjoy it anymore. I tried to quit smoking many times. But, in my case the withdrawal symptoms are too painful. If I quit smoking i get too much dry cough. Its like, I am coughing 24/7. It is not that I have not tried quiting it. But, I cannot handle the cough that I get. And I ended up getting cramps in my tummy coz of the excessive coughs. I have tried a lot of ways like chewing a chewing gum ........ or drinking water when I feel like smoking........ but, of no use coz the dry cough is still there. Also tried those "Smoking Strips"....... but of no use. Can anyone of you share your thoughts about your ways of quiting smoking.

my husband smokes too but not as often as you do. i think it's needless to say it's dangerous to your health. have you tried consulting a professional say, a doctor about your problem? my hat's off to you for trying. it might be too hard at first but i say keep on trying. don't give up so easily. for your sake and those of the people around you. it's not only yourself you're harming but also theirs. i can't offer much help since i don't smoke and i have no idea how hard it is to quit for somebody like you. i hope my husband would reach that resolve someday. even if he only smoke occasionally it's still bad for his health. good luck to you and don't ever hesitate to seek professional help. hope you can overcome it real soon.

It is good thinking that you want to quit from smoking. I want all people go far away from smoking. It is very dangerous for helth. Make a strong decision that you will never smoke next time. And make yourself very busy in works especialy when you want smoking then do some thing and make yourself busy. I saw many men who were great smoker but now they totally leave from smoking. I hope you will also leave from smoking because now you want to leave from it.

My opinions are that you need to drink a lot of water 2-3 litters, such as plain water, lemon, and orange juice. When you feel like to smoke, you have to eat bananas or candies. I avoid smoking, I don't want to smoke, because it is very bad for health, I was trained when I was a kid. My aunt was angry to see me hiding, and reported to my parents. From that period, I quit smoking. I am still afraid that when I am praying the smoke from the incense smoke which are not good for the lung as well.

Just try to avoid it, no matter how. Try to minimise from 10 to 5, slowly slowly, then from 5 to 3, then 2, then 1, then nothing, what do you think?

I only smoke for a short while when I was very lonely and irritated as smoking was a really help to calm me and relax me. But afterwards, I gave it up as I know it wouldn't be healthy for me in long term. Maybe I have a strong will power that I don't see the difficulties to quit smoking. I would suggest you to smoke less gradually. Let us say if you are used to smoke a package daily; try to smoke 35 daily. And try not to over that limit for any reasons. Meanwhile, you can use anti smoking sweets or tablets to help in between. And you can give yourself a treat if you can control your limited daily smoking. Wish you luck!

When I quit I went cold turkey and it was pretty rough. It was almost like an andrenaline rush fighting the urges though, but it was a tough battle. I wouldnt recommend if for everyone. However, a friend of mine tried everything and couldnt beat it. She eventually went to the gum and even though its very expensive it helped her. Shes been clean for a little over 2 years now. Good luck, its not fun.
