I do. I keep old appliances boxes, receipts, wrappings, etc. I don't know, I guess I always think that I might need it one day and my sister always scolds me for keeping trash in the room. :)

I do but then every once and a while I'll go through all of my things, clothes, etc and declutter. Then of course I can find more things to horde. My boyfriend is notorious for being a pack rat. He keeps boxes and receipts, same as you, just in case. It drives me crazy. At least I only keep material things I will actually use. I can always go to the grocery store and grab some empty boxes if we move! He knows its a psychological reason, he doesn't want to let go of his past, the memories those things hold. I understand but come on, our appartment is only so big.

Yes, I do. But I am trying to stop keeping clutter. I went on a course about clutter clearing about two years ago. It taught us to get rid of all the things that we didn't really need. The woman talked about posessions that would make a person feel emotional. She said to imagine the posession floating away in a cloud. It worked with some things. But there are still so many ornaments that have gone up the loft! At the moment I am sorting my photos out. I will need to throw lots of photos away. I have just go far too many. I think magazines are things you can rip out interesting and put it in a folder. Receipts are difficult, some can be thrown out, others need to be kept. Wrapping can go and so can old appliance boxes.

Oh, I know what you can do with your photos. If you have a hard time letting them go, just scan them and save them on a cd or dvd. It will take up less space.

I can't stand having anything in the house that I am not using at the moment . I am not a pack rat in any way but my husband is and so are my children . My mom was like this when I was a child and it just annoyed me that she would keep things like paperclips or elasics that she was never going to be able to find with everything else she was keeping and would end up going out to buy more when she needed some as what would be the point in spending hours looking for something that was cheep to buy anyway lol . It doesn't bother me when I go to someone else's place and they do this but it bothers me as I can't stand trying to find a place to put something that I am not going to know where it is when I go to find it for when I need it :)

I wish I could be more like you. But it's always hard for me to let go of things. :)

Yes, I am one of those that keep junk stuffs. For some reason, I do not like the ideal of throwing things that is in working order away, I find it a waste when I throw it away, alway telling myself that I might need it again. With that thought, I had been keeping a lot of junk in my store room. I think it time for me to go thru the junk in the next few days to clear off some of the things that had not been touched for the past 2 year.

I am an organizational freak. I can not stand clutter. I like to know where everything is. If I do not use something I give it away to someone I know will. I live in a small house and I don't have room for unnecessary things.

I admit to being something of a hoarder, keeping all kinds of things in the spare room and loft. I know I should clear it all out but have a difficulty getting rid of everything at once.

I think I used to be that way more...but since moviing to a small apartment, I have had to change my ways and be much more strict in what I keep and what I toss. I have learned to use the 2 year rule. If I don't use, wear, or generally do anything with something for more than 2 years...it gets donated to goodwill, or sold at the condsignment shop. At first it was hard. I would always think, "But I might need that", or "I might be able to fit into that again". But after really thinking about it I have realized I'll never wear my high school clothes again and that I don't really need purses I haven't used in 3 years. For me clearing some of the (literal) clutter out of my life really makes everything seem a little more clear.

I used to be exactly like you. I would keep everything from greeting cards, to gift bags and tissue paper, to magazines and clothing. It was always in my mind, if I get rid of it, I will need it someday. I then saw a television show that said you should clean out your stuff once a year. Go threw everything. If you haven't used it in one year, chances are you are never going to need it, so throw it out. Now my house is so much more orderly and neat.

Oh dear yes!! My garage is full of junk, quite a lot of it cardboard boxes and packing materials! As my wife and I both collect old books and I collect old radios, we have a fair amount of packaging coming in to teh house. Some of it we recycle for using again, other bits go in the recycle bin, some goes to our neighbours for use but we still have a house full of crap! Maybe I should teach the cats to eat it.... :-)
