It would depend on what kind of freedom they were looking for . There is no reason a child shouldn't be able to go out and have a good time with friends but at the same time they can't expect to be able to go out and do anything they want whenever they want .
I feel that in our household , our child have to earn their privileges to be able to do something such as in if they want something from me then they should understand that I might like some help and shouldn't have to ask for this . I feel that anyone who will get up and just do something that needs to be done is more deserving then the one who sits around all day .
I think it is great for children to be able to get out and learn who they are , to have there own friends , go places they enjoy and join things that hold their intersts .
My children are all well behaved and I don't have to worry about them going out as I trust all of them but do require that they help out around the house when they want to do something as I am not the only one that should be required to do all the work when we all live here toghether and feel that doing chores is a good way for children to learn that you have to be willing to get the job done to get anywhere in life :)
