Currently AOL has offered its service free on anyone with a high speed connection. Revenues will be derived from advertising. Is this a welcome development for AOL users and subscribers?

Personally, I love it. I have been a member of AOL since it first came out. I was reluctant to give up my subscription for its service when cheaper services and even DSL came out. I know it was stupid but I couldn't help it so I paid out more money that I could have. I'm really happy now because I still get to keep everything that I love on AOL with the benefit of not having to pay for it. I just wish that they had come out with this option alot sooner.

I think in theory this is a good idea but in practice it may actually run slower and if you encounter any problems with it and have to get in touch with the helpline then you may not be giving priority as you are not a paying customer. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
