Most of the household food that are classed as leftovers I put into the garden for the birds and animals to eat. The bottles and jars and anything glass are taken to the bottle bank. I have saved money and the environment by not buying newspapers or magazines as that information I can get of the World Wide Web. Do you contribute? Have a nice day from Deeeky.

We seperate out our recyclables from the trash to be picked up. We don't buy newspapers either. We reuse plastic bags from the store as trash can liners. I have even started collecting aluminium soda cans at work to be recycled (there is no recycling program at work, presently, though I would like to start one).

well done aluminium cans should all be taken back to where we got them so that the precious metal can be used again and again.

Out local council are very good, we get special bags into which we can put paper, plastic and tin cans. We also get a platci box to put all the glass into, then the council come and collect it every other week. It makes it so easy to do that you would be mad not to. Everyone in our street recycles and at least half of the rubbish is recycled. I think that people in my area a good understanding of the environmental impact and as many also have children they are very concerned about the future of our planet. I think its fantasic that you recycle and I would encourage everyone to follow your example! It's really easy try it today!

I try to recycle but more importantly I try to reuse things when possible. The bags from the grocery store for example I use for picking up after the dog, for trash bags in the smaller cans, things like that. I also reuse containers or other things like that. I also try to reduce. Not use things if I don't have to. I use rags and sponges instead of paper towels for example. I also freecyle things when possible so that way even if I can't use it others might be able to. I also get things from there as well.

Hi Deeeky, I do a heck of alot of recycling, infact I've got a whole shed full at the moment! We get ours collected once every two weeks and in the last two weeks i've redecorated and brought lots of new stuff for the front room which all came in cardboard and plastic, so I've stuck it all in my outdoor shed for the next collection! I always try to do my bit although I wish I could say the same for my daughter, I'm always pulling stuff out of the bin that she's just chucked away!

We recycle, it's just a routine we have. The only stuff that goes into the trash is food and sadly food containers that aren't recyclable, we live in the suburbs so we can't compost it. I don't buy magazines or newspapers either, that's what the internet is for!

Can't say that I do it 100 percent but yes, I do try to help the environment by recycling. We the residents do not benefit financially directly from the recycling, however. The county has containers located throughout in heavily populated places and make pickups on a routine basis. The money they receive from the companies that recycle is then put to use throughout the county building children's playgrounds, green areas with sculptures and the like. Our's was the first county to start it and the idea has grown throughout the country. However, there are still those who pay no attention to the environment and litter to hell and gone.
