Parma Violets. An old style British Candy enjoyed - Parma Violets. An old style British Candy enjoyed by kids
I've never heard of those but when I was a kid growing up in Scotland I used to love a candy called Parma Violets. They were really cheap and came in little packs like Twizzlers. I found them again recently in a local British store and my wife thought they were the most disgusting things she had ever tasted...LOL

Thanks. They don't ship to the US... but http://www.handycandy.co.uk does and they have a lot of other interesting things I think I'd like to try.

I haven't tried these, but they sound interesting! I have had violets in salad before. I have also had the chocolate rose petals that a previous poster mentioned and they are dedadent! I'll have to try the violet mints.

I have never heard of these, or seen these anywhere so that I can try them. Where do you get something like this?

You can get them www.oldtimecandy.com/chowards.htm I get them two places - one is an independantly owned coffee shop and bookstore. The other is Candy Kitchen ice cream. They have a lot of old fashioned candy. You can also get them on amazon.com.

I have had those! I also thingk they are really nice. They are my Uncles favorite and when I was a kid we would always beg him for some. They are hard to come by, but whenever I see then I grab a pack for me and one for him. In fact my Uncle recently moved to Arizona anf hd to drive cross country to get there. My sister and I made him a car package for his drive and we made sure his "flower candy" (as we used to call them) were included in the kit. I really like violet in general. These candies taste and smell lovely....they are the perfect treat to have well soaking in a nice viloty bath too :-) Bathos anyone? :-)

I got my neice hooked on them too. I send her care packages with Lush, lip gloss, kawaii stationairy, and violet mints. She loves it!

I've tried something like those before...but there's something about chomping on roses, dandelions, daisy, violets and other such edible flowers that makes me cringe. I guess I'd be terrible if I had to "rough" it for a few days in the wild.

Hmm. I like flowers... I've had them in my salads... I've had various candies made from them. There are some asian candies and gums made from flowers. Oooh and chocolate dipped rose petals are exquisite too.
