i took my daughter to go see franklin play. there was a man in a suit beside us who took his 6 or 7 year old son. we were there about 15 minutes before the show started and this man never said one word to his child. he was playing cards on his cell phone and the child was sitting there looking so sad. to me, if your going to take your child out to spend quality time to them then you should at least talk to them and be there, not on your cell. i felt so sad for this child. during the entire show they never spoke a word. i couldn't imagine doing that to my daughter.

I think if you agree to have children, you kind of have to put in the effort :) Parents should enjoy their time with their children, it shouldn't be a chore i don't understand how a parent could do this.

That is sad. I agree with you, if you're going to spend quality time with your own kids, you need to leave laptops, cells, pagers & any other thing that can interrupt you, AT HOME! I could never do something like that to my daughter either, if we take her anywhere we do it as a family & spend the day enjoying each others company. I wonder why someone would take a child out only to ignore them anyway, it seems very selfish.

I agree with you , if you are going to take your child somewhere for a fun time then it would be nice to have some quality time with them and at least talk and share jokes and to just have some fun . It sounds like this man didn't really want to be there with his child and if this was the case this would only make the child feel worse knowing that he was there because he felt he had to be and not because he wanted to spend some quality time with his son and having fun . I don't understand parents like these at all . Why even bother going if this is what you were planning on being a good time .

Gosh just hearing that makes me sad too. I feel sorry for that little boy. I hope that isnt how the man usually acts. I am hoping it was a fluke although in reality it is probably every day life for that boy :(
