Wives tend to believe that their husbands are infinitely resouceful and verstile.Even husbands who can hardly drive a nail in straight are supposed to be born electricians, carpenters, plumbers and mechanics. When lights fuse, furiture gets rickety, pipes get clogged,or vacuum cleaners fail to operate, wives automatically assum that their husbands will somehow put things right. The worst thing about the DIY game is that sometimes husbands live under the delusion that they can do anything even when they have been repeatedly proved wrong. It is a question of pride as much as anything else. what is your opinion about this topic? I will very glad to share you with your thougts.thank you.

My strengths lie in anything electronic or computer related, i can usually finagle something until it works properly, but when it comes to handiwork, i don't even pretend to know what I'm doing. I'm openly honest about that and as such there's no shame to be had as i can't make a fool out of myself if i don't even try.

My fiance is as usless as a 3 dollar bill when it comes to fixing things. He can't do anything when it comes to fixing stuff. I have to do it myself. He's even computer illiterate.

when wives tend to believe that their husbands will somehow put things right or assume that their husbands can do it it is because they have faith in their husbands. they think that their husbands are as much capable as to do any thing right. its true. when i am in any problem or any thing gona be wrong, the first person in my thought is my partner. not becuase i do not value him but because i believe that i do not need any other one than my partner to help me out and he does it so well. i can believe him blindly.

wives have faith in their husbands is not a bad thing. but they believe their husbands blindly is improper. as we all know few people's versatile. if there were some, they can't do their versatile capability. thank you for you response.

My father was a carpenter, so I'm pretty good with shelves, fences, hanging doors, building and repairing furniture, stuff like that. Because I'm a radio amateur I'm also good with electrical things, computers, etc. I know a little about cars - I can maintain my own to a reasonable degree, but don't have the tools or knowledge to do the complicated jobs. What I cannot do is plumbing or decorating. I'm DREADFUL at these things - also, as I'm scared of heights I don't do anything involving ladders. :-) More often than not my wife and I will get repairmen in to do most jobs. Her logic is that if I hurt myself doing a job, and have to take time off work, that will cost us maybe $500 a day - I work as a contractor so only get paid when I work. It's therefore a safer bet to get soemone else in to do the difficult jobs, tahn I try and do them myself.

Handymen....what a wonderful discussion... In my experience, people in general fall into certain categories. It does help if the guy, who is usually much stronger than the female, can do some small things around the house like fix the elbow under the kitchen sink, or something like that. Thing is, I've been around so many guys that can do that and more, that I picked up a few things in my life, so it's not that big of a deal if I'm around a guy that can't do it. One misconception is that doing work with your hands is 'dirty' work. It can be very fulfilling to get your hands covered in grease or putty, knowing that you're doing something to fix something. The way things are going in the world, there's as much demand for people that can work with computers and things like that, so that's almost being considered a handyman as well. I know that I would go to my special someone to fix my computer, but not to change my oil, because I know what he's capable of. Though, learning something new is fun as well, so maybe he'd want to learn at some point. Either way, the world is changing, and women totally depending on men now is more a thing of the past. Though I would much rather depend on a man for the 'dirty' things ;) keeps me nice and pretty looking for him.

hmmm.....i think you suggested a new conception of my topic, the world is changing, and women totally depending on men now is more a thing of the past.and i like what said that you would much rather depend on a man for the "dirty" things, keeps me nice and pretty looking for him.i am a man,i venture to say i know something about man,it's pleasure to do the 'dirty' things and let his woman look nice and pretty. in addition to that i had to say the truth there are few mem who are handyman insides me. and yes,i will keep my wife nice and pretty looking for me not to do the dirty things by myself, but to ask a clock worker to do my housework. maybe i am something lazy. lol, thank you for response.

Maybe women just want to prove that their husbands, men are stronger or more verstile than themselves. So women can depend on men, and have some security sense???
