Mylot Rating System

United States

Does anyone really fully understand how thiw works? I ask this because for the longest time I had a 10-star and then about a week ago, it dropped to a 9 and it has been a 9 ever since. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if their rating ever went back up. Does every positive rating increase our rating number? I very rarely see mine go up, which makes me think, either 1) Very few people actually rate me, or 2) every individual rating DOES NOT increase the number. What are your views on the whole rating system?

The up and down of the star rating is a common in mylot. If the members rate you with more + you rating goes up other wise the rating will go down.

Well I understand the basics to the ratng system, but what I don't get is why my rating star quality went down, but my number did not. Or if it did, it only when down a digit or two-I surely would hope that would not drop me doewn and entire number from the star-but I guess it did.

Well, for the longest time I was a #9. Then very quickly I dropped to a #2. I was responding in controversial topics when this happened. If you ever do figure out how the star system works, please, let me know because I do not have a clue. There has been a lot of discussion about this lately. The best idea I heard was the one to just eliminate the star rating system, but that probably will not happen. As to your actual myLot reputation number changing, mine hardly moves anymore at all, no matter what I write. So, I'm really at a loss as to what's going on. Here's my ideas: 1) Anyone without a star not be allowed to rate anyone. 2) To rate a response or thread you have to respond to it. 3) Calculate percentage of best responses to overall posts and use that for the star rating. Good luck to you hope you get a #10 back soon.

I am sorry and thoroughly shocked that you went from a 9 to a 2 rating. How on earth did so many people rate you negatively? (Closed minded people-I know we can start there.) Contoroversial or not, we are supposed to be writers of opinions and communicate openly. No, I don't think that the star rating feature will go away. For the most part, people seem to like it. I did until my rating dropped, and although it didn't drop too much, the reasons behind it are unclear to me, and therefore it does upset me. Well, I guess all I can do is hope that I earn enough whatever to gain my 10 star back. And you too, for the work you have lost. Thanks so much for your reply.

It happened to me, and I'm glad that I did came back to 10. It sure helps to get positive ratings from others, also by rating other mylot members. We cannot also be sure if others do rate us, as they always try to say this while responding to discussions asking if they do rate others. The best thing to do is to look for more quality posts, and search for those mylot members that are responsible enough in rating responses. Also, we should always practice to make our posts with good quality and try to avoid responding with less than two sentences or with short responses. Because this do not help us in earning both an increase in rating and earnings. I'll post you the link about ratings and reputations, on how it is calculated by mylot.
