they say there are more muslims in the world than people belonging to any faith prolly that has to do witht he fact that they have a litter of kids .......or maybe it has to do witht the fact that some people are converting to islam

Ya you are right Christianity is the most widespread religion, but let me tell you one think now a days Islam is the fastest growing religion on this earth, and Muslims are not paying them to get reverted back to Islam, Christianity is widespread as it is older than Islam. If you will closely look at both the religions both of them say there is one God and you must worship him alone.
