Do you have a favorite quote or mantra that you live by? Share it here. I'll start with a few: "Don't part with your illusions. When they're gone, you may still exist but you have ceased to live." -Mark Twain "To be pleased with one's limits is a wretched state." -Goethe "The happiness of a man does not consist in the absense but in the mastery of his passions." -Alfred Lord Tennyson "I have held many things in my hands and I have lost them all, but whatever I place in God's hands, that, I still possess." -Martin Luther "Think of yourself on the threshold of unparalled success. A whole, clear, glorious life lies before you. Achieve! Achieve!" -Andrew Carnagie "Difficulties mastered are opportunities won." -Winston Churchill "Treat a man as he appears to be, and you make him worse. But treat a man as if he is what he potentially could be, and you make him what he should be." -Goethe I collect quotes, so I have plenty more where that came from! Feel free to add your favorites!

Some very inspiring quotes, indeed, Here are a couple of my favorites. "Don't be afraid to go out on a limb. that's where the fruit is" (unknown) "I have a dream. That someday a man will be judged, not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character. I have a dream today." (Rev. Martin Luther King) "Imagine all the people, living life in peace" "All we are saying, is give peace a chance" (John Lennon)

One of my favorite quotes is "Show me a man who resorts to violence, and I will show you a man who has run out of great ideas" I am not sure who said that or where I heard it but it is stuck in my head, and it is very true because anyone who resorts to violence must be out of good ideas, because violence is always a last resort, and should only be used in defense.

I guess my quotes are not as exciting as the ones you have. Here they are: Nothing is impossible. Love conquers all. Oh, when you say quote do you mean it must come from a known person? I am sorry. But I don't have quotes like those. Have fun!

I have a quote that I live by or at least try to live by. I made it up once many years ago when a friend of mine desided on settling for a guy she didn't really want to be with. Here it is: "Never settle for what you get, but get what you settle for."

Life is way to short to have a fight with your best friend, she might be mad at you becasue you'd do anything for that guy. but if she's really your best friend she'd live with it. and if she don't then she not your best friend. Hold onto the ones that mean the most to you, and if you find that guy, go after him; you wont regret it later, what you will regret is not going after him and seeing him with another girl and then having to fight for him. Life sucks and it throws you curves, hills to climb, rivers to cross but thats what keep life so unpredictable. It's better that way. No one said that it would be easy, but in the end, everything you did will put you where youre susposed to be, and looking back on it you'll be glad you did everything that you did do and you'll regret the things you didnt do. but hey its a part of life. There will be a time in life when u just got to let go ove that certain somebody. Life is hard but u'll live through it. There will be a time in life when u just want to cry dont hold ur tears back let them out. There will be a time in life when u find that special guy/or girl that makes u very happy and u think they r the perfect person for u. We r only young once so we all gotta mess it up right. so far i've learned that everyday of your life must be lived to the fullest. life is about smiling, laughing & crying. life is about making the most of what you have & what you're given. its about keeping relationships & losing them. life is about falling in love & losing someone you love. life was given to us as a challenge & its not easy but you have to try & meet that challenge & make the most of it while you can cause you dont actually know when it will be your turn to lay down to rest. you only have one shot at life so make sure you take it with both hands & squeeze every little drop out of it you can

When I'm single, I used to hold on to this old saying : If you love something, set it free... If it doesn't come back, it was never meant to be If it does love it forever.......

I don't really know who wrote these but this time these are my favorite quotes: "Silence doesn't always mean YES, it may also mean NO but its' better left unsaid." "Anger doesn't always mean hatred, it could just be a means of coping up." "Laughter doesn't always mean happines, sometimes it is just a mask." Tears don't always mean sorrow, it may also be an outlet of joy." "Staying away doesn't always mean its the end. It may also mean the best beginning." and "Life though its so complex, is always beautiful."

I collect quotes too! I used to have a random quote generator on an old website of mine. That was such a fun toy! My current favorites are: "What’s in store for me in the direction I don’t take?" - Jack Kerouac "If you're going through hell, keep going." - Winston Churchill "Some of G-d's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers." - Garth Brooks "I ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders." - Jewish Proverb "If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it." - Mary Engelbreit "Adversity is the first path to truth." - Lord Byron "We do survive every moment, after all, except the last one." - John Updike "Dare to do things worthy of imprisonment if you mean to be of consequence." - Juvenal "Never do anything against conscience even if the state demands it." - Albert Einstein "Disobedience, the rarest and most courageous of the virtues, is seldom distinguished from neglect, the laziest and commonest of the vices." - George Bernard Shaw "Integrity has no need of rules." - Albert Camus "Anyone who believes that all laws are applied equally, despite race, religion, or economic status, is a fool." - John J. Miller "There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good." - Edwin Denby "I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance." - Nietzsche "All the people like us are We, / And everyone else is They." - Rudyard Kipling "People are pretty much alike. It's only that our differences are more susceptible to definition than our similarities." - Linda Ellerbee I could keep going, but I'd be at this all day. Great thread!
