I want to start building up the baby's own book collection, so I'm asking for recommendations. I have books from my older children so I know a lot already but I was just hoping to get a few different ones. What were your favorite books when you were little or from when your children were small? He already has "The Poky Little Puppy" because that was one of my favorites.

Reading lots of Dr. Seuss books is so wonderful for phonemic awareness/reading skills. Some of my other "Must Have" are: -The Country Bunny & the Little Gold Shoes - DuBose Heyward -Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch - Eileen Spinelli -Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. -All the Little Bear books - Else Holmelund Minarik -Frog & Toad are Friends - Arnold Lobel -Mousetales - Arnold Lobel (All Arnold Lobel books are wonderful for kids) -Crysanthemum - Kevin Henke -I'll Love You Forever - Robert Munsch (a tearjerker) -The Runaway Bunnt - Margaret Wise Brown

We have Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and I'll Love You Forever. The Runaway Bunny sounds familiar too. Thanks for the list, I'll have to start looking for some of them.

There is books by Walter Farley about Little Black. There are books by C. W. Anderson about Blaze and Billy. These will be age appropriate when about 5 to 7 years. When older there is a series by Walter Farley about the Black Stallion. There are 21 books in this collection. There is some more by Steve Farley called the Young Black Stallion Series. There is 6 or 7 in this series. They are probably 7 to 10 years appropriate.
