this incident happened on 2004...i visited my fiancee at her house...i was excited to tell her the good news bout my promotion....i entered their house as her mom told me that shes at the kitchen with her sister cooking dinner....i saw her and as i would usually do i sneaked at her back clandestinely...hugged her....to my surprise it was her younger sister!....i was so embarrased i was red faced....she was surprised to catch me in such an embarrasing situation too...her sister shouted....i explained to her what happenen...i said sorry to her sister for the mistake,i thought it was her as her sister was wearing her shirt and shorts,......i was lucky her mom wasnt there...i cant imagine what would happen if it was her mom who caught me!i was lucky she was in a good mood......so have you had the same experience?heheheh peace!

Ouch! That has to have been a really awkward moment for you... I can't say that I have done anything like that. The closest would be one time when I started a job, and one of the saleswomen and the general manager looked a lot alike. So it was about my second day, and I started asking the saleswoman all sorts of questions about procedure and paperwork... thinking she was the manager... and it took several minutes before I realized that I was asking all this information from the wrong person... it WAS a bit embarrasing.

I have not and anyway that was just a hug. Nothing wrong with that. I guess your families are not close like that. It was an honest mistake and nothing should be made of it. A one time incident it would not be a big deal and worth mentioning unless you gave it the power to be so. I hope it does not happen again in any situation however if it does make it not a big deal. Apolgize and move on.

Oh wow this would be an embarrasing situation to get yourself into, yes you were very lucky that her mother was not there. No I have never had that kind of experience and I sure would not of liked to experience this with hugging the wrong person.

I have come close to that situation, my girlfriend has 2 sisters that kind of look like here from behind. I managed to stop myself before I hugged the wrong one. Glad everything worked out.

I was with my Mom one time and a friend of hers...We were going to visit a relative that we had not seen in a very long time, and this relative was in a nursing home...So we approached the nursing home and as we were getting out, a resident at the home was walking and she looked a lot like our relative and my Mom went up to her and was hugging her saying "oh how are you doing??? and the woman was hugging my Mom back and she was so excited, the resident and My Mom ....Oh my Mom was telling her how good she looked and all, and all of a sudden I looked at her and said to My Mom,Mom this is not "Ollie" that was the relatives name and it was so funny ..My Mom was embarrassed, and her friend and I had a good laugh,it was funny..

That's so funny, but then of course so embarrassing if that would happen to me! Well, I have quite a similar experience. I had a group of friends way back in medical school and we would always hang out at a particular diner during lunchbreak. They are guys (we're only two girls in the group) and our usual mode of greeting is-- well, hitting each other's heads. Hehe. Anyway, one time, I saw two people, one facing me, at the table where we would use to situate ourselves. That person facing me smiled (he's one of the group of friends), and I noticed that the person whose back is turned against me is one of the friends in the group, too. I motioned for him (the one facing me) to stay quiet and discreet (because I was planning to surprise my 'other' friend whose back was turned against me). When I got to their table, I suddenly hit the head of the other one, and he was so taken aback and a bit pissed. I then realized he's not one of my friends and I was so embarrassed. I couldn't remember how many times I had to apologize to that person (countless I must say)! Oh well.. Happy myLotting!
