Do any of you know of some different charities devoted to Cervical Cancer? Are there any Cervical Cancer walks?

I was at the dr.'s the other day and saw something about quest Diagnostics folks who do lab testing and blood draws and such) doing a purple ribbon campaign for cervical cancer.I think this is the right website for it... http://www.questdiagnostics.com/destinationhealth/register.html

Today I also saw something called the Yellow Umbrella Tour, but I'm not sure how official or great it is, it's hard to find any information on them or this years tour. http://www.yellowumbrellatour.com/

I think the yellow umbrella campaign is an official tour. The site for quest diagnostics had something about it too. It looked like my message got the end cut off. The part after questdiagnostics should read /destinationhealth/register.html I don't know if it has any more information than the site you posted up though.I'd be surprised if it did since the one you posted is probably the main page for the tour.

Thanks for your response up above. If I do have to have a hysterecotomy, I will have a full one done. After my daughter was born I had my tubes tied, so I can't and don't want no more kids. I just want the stress gone from all of this. I have my next pap in two weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed it comes back okay!

I don't know of any charities or walks, but if you find any could you let me know? I was recently diagnosed with having precancer on my cervics. I had to undergo bunch of procedures to remove the cells and I am now having to go to the doctor every three months for a pap smear. The doctor tells me that if I ever fail another pap I will have to have a hysterectamy. I go for my next pap at the end of this month with my fingers crossed.

Thank you very much for the support. When I get close to being due for a pap I start to get really stressed.

Aww...I know that feeling too well though. I've been through the same thing and been told the same by my dr. If they caught it all you should be fine though. Also, even if you do have to eventually have a hysterectomy then you may be able to have only a partial (and not have all of the problems with hormones and early menopause). We're working on having a little one right now while we can. My dr. cleared us for it and we're working with an OB/GYN to try for what will probably be our last. i was lucky in that we had our one little boy a year before I went in to have the removal and such done.If you ever do have to go through the hysterctomy and want kids you may be able to have them save your eggs. They really weren't sure what they'd be able to do when I went through this last as I was on the edge of stage 4.
