Does anyone have any tips for promoting websites? I've gotten plenty of traffic through traffic exchanges and search engine submissions but very few referrals. What are some free ways to advertise that have worked for you? And by worked, I mean actually gotten you referrals and not just traffic.

I just wrote an article about this very same thing just the other day for associated content. I'll just link you to the article since I'm unable to copy and paste. The article discusses how to get more traffic. All of the numbers if done correctly are on a personable level (unlike traffic exchanges) so that you should be able to transform a lot of the traffic into actual referrals. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/171621/eight_ways_to_get_more_traffic_to_your.html Let me know if you think you can apply these ideas and if it's somewhat what you're looking for. Best of luck to you!

Word of mouth seems to be the best way. If one of your friends tells you to check out this website that will make you money and thats all you have to do is answer questions, wouldn't you check it out and sign up for something so easy. I found this sight because I was looking for a way to make some pocket change online. I was not looking for a new job, I just wanted a few extra bucks and I found it but I did not start using this website until several months after I had signed up and I remember this site and thought I should really check it out. If a friend had told me about this site I would have jump into this site faster and I would have made more money.
