Self help, adventure novel, fantasy, fiction, non fiction. Ideas come and go and just maybe one will stay long enough so I can put it down on paper. What have you wanted to write about?

I love to read all sorts of fiction and fantasy books. I have tried writing a romantic novel, but I jsut eventually got bored with it, then I tried my hand in drama genre, well it didn't turn out well (atleast I thought so). The latest genre I have took up interest on is Fantasy, I have great ideas, but having a bit of trouble with my imagination, but I'd certainly coem up with something better soon (hopefuly!). Its a long process to which I get easily bored, I mean I'd LOVE to write a book, its a good start, I would almost visualize the ending, but all my enthuasism dampen after a month of unfinished work.

Wow leanette, at least you're having a go. Good luck with it and I hope you get an end result. I think I'd have the bored problem too as I seem to start out with great ideas then they go flat quickly. Wonder what that's about!

I guess at some point discipline has to come in. I know that's something I need to pull on to complete tasks. And there is such a fabulous feeling when you complete something creative. But I am a slacker for sure and I only think about it and have never even got to Once Upon a time!

I've always wanted to write about life in general. Honest to God, i always think that my life could be a movie. There are so many twists in my life that I think there must be Director and a Writer out there dictating everything that should happen. Hey, maybe if I do something great someday, you'll see my life in the Big Screen in the future. ;-)

Sounds like you're already doing something great, surviving the twists and turns. They say writing is a good healer too and it's good to purge your life onto pages. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and makes for lots of stories to your grandchildren if you should ever have them.

Several are started, actually. I have one I started to deal with my lovely adulterous marriage--that one's going well. One's a fantasy novel (try to maintain your surprise). The others are sports related.

If I only get to pick one, then I'll pick the cheating wife book--because of the twist I wrote into it--I like it.

Okay, good choice. You now have 3 months to finish it. Are you up to the challenge?

Such a diverse range of inspiration to pull from!! Here's an impulse - you have 3 months to finish one - which one do you choose?

Life ? Yes, it could be hard and perhaps also the easiest when you could write about your life. That way, the book won't be unrealistic and you won't have to run your imagination too wild if you had an eventful life, which most of us believe we had.I don't know how difficult it's going to be to get some readers, lol, but as far as writing is concerned ,I find life to be a pretty interesting subject.Once it's written,I stop worrying and the marketer starts thinking.I guess, many blogs are getting popular as they tell the story of their life beautified by eloquence and a little imagination. What would be your topic ?:)

That's a good question, and a hard one to give an correct answer to. I've managed to keep a pretty comprehensive journal of my experiences while going through the trials of uncovering myself while at a school of meditation. In essence that would be a book on Life too cause basically that's what happens until you can get out of the mind!! Also a fantasy book of the experiences in different states of consciousness, but it may be a little obscure for some to follow. I've 'seen' it made into an animated movie and it's wonderful (of course). I'm not good at getting it from the thought state to paper and beyond, but then I've never really tried!

Yep,it's hard to tell until we have tried :) Perhaps there lies the untapped potential that could help us rediscover ourselves.Meditation indeed takes us to places our mind is otherwise unaware of.I used to meditate once.If only it could help translate our thoughts to paper, expression would have become much simpler and unambiguous.

Yeah I've a work in progress. It's fantasy, centered around a pair of characters who've gleaned inspiration for their personalities from unlikely places for the last few years.

I am currently writing a book. It's fiction. You see, I am so fond of writing stories especially when I am inspired. My story is about a teenager who experiences many downfalls but learns to fight because of the guy who loves her. I hope it would be published one day.

I have had an idea for a book, . The basis of it will be that the world was practically destroyed in a nuclear war hundreds of years ago and in order to bring piece back they destroyed all modern technologies and started all over again, they even re-wrote history so that we would be non the wiser. However some people have kept hold of some of the ultramodern technology and are trying to re-introduce it into the world (the first success of this was the A-Bomb). The story will be about a group whose job it to stop these old technologies being re-introduced in order to stop the world being practically wiped out all over again, however at the moment they are failing, how can they save the world? I think its a good idea, however my inability to write in a coherent style means that my chance of success is limited.

Maybe you could write about it in a different form, like a screenplay, not that they are not coherent. There are different ways to get around a problem. I can relate, I have great ideas but have to get it out and down on the screen. Good luck, don't give up.

I have always wanted to write a book since I was little, although I haven't really thought much about it in recent years. The problem I have though is that I don't know what to write about lol I think i would probably end up taking ideas from all sorts of different books I've read over the years and it would just turn into a bit of a mix up. I don;t know if I would have the patience to write a whole book as well, I would want to skip straight to the ending and leave out all the boring bits :)

I can relate to the impatience, but I wonder if the inspiration of actually doing it would be enough to hold our interest until completion. Maybe the time will come where you will know exactly what to write about.

I do not think I have the patience or discipline to write a book that would make sense.I will occassionally have some ideas or plots, but have never put them down on paper.I think I make a much better reader than writer.

It is a discipline no doubt. I get distracted so quickly that I don't know if I could do a book justice. I go through phases of real intense creativity, then nothing at all - gone. I wonder sometimes though if those ideas I have are being wasted and I'm just plain lazy!

I've wanted to write a couple books. I would love to write an extensive guinea pig care guide and actually have it available in pet stores so that people have a good option out there. I would also like to write a children's book with a nice story about guinea pigs that doesn't include all the misinformation out there in a lot of those type of books. I would do all of my own photos, but probably have someone else do the artwork.

Actually Tetchie I have ALWAYS wanted to write a book and have actually commenced the process on several occasions..... Unfortunately I have never followed through on it. One genre was a fictional storyline along the lines of a child born that was not of this world that had control over the earth's natural environment. People that had been warned of this child's future entry into the world from generation to generation maintaining the legend then commenced their quest to find this child to manipulate the power and control the earth etc etc This was a long, long time ago and when I look back on the concept now it sounds somewhat silly! Sort of the standard good versus evil type crap I guess..... My latest attempt (ongoing) is short paragraphs of my incessant ramblings. They are politically incorrect on many levels but one day I hope to compile many of them and see what's what! I have an abstract sense of humour that I most definitely do not share freely on this site as it may sometimes be deemed offensive! Let's just say that I am somewhat sarcastic and cynical and have never been a big fan of limiting humourous content just because of fears of being called sexist, anti-religion or politically incorrect!! But an ideal book I would love to write?? I would love to write a "pseudo" self help book that empowers people to embrace life with a tongue in cheek attitude towards the realities of living. Humourous, motivational yet also subliminally profound! If I could one day achieve this then I would feel very satisfied.....

Ahhhh..... The immortal "To Do List"..... I appreciate the encouragement! But first I would like to have the foundations in place that confirm my status as a success story in my own life before I attempt to assist others with theirs! Hopefully soon.....

James there is a market for the 'pseudo self help book' NOW. For the serious at heart who can't beat the black dog (depression), when all else fails, you need a different standpoint, which is usually to take life on the cosmic joke side. The world is too big to change singlehandedly, so you have to take what ever means are available to endure - humor works. Humorous, motivational yet subliminally profound - best seller friend. Hurry up!

I've never sat down and tried to write a book, though I think it would be a good challenge. I've written short stories and would like to get a collection of them to publish together. However, a lot of people (my friends included) say they like novels better. I'd also love to write a travel book someday. I love to read them...Frances Mayes is one of my favorite travel writers (although I guess you could say hers are more about living in a different country than travel, per se).

Short stories are usually the size of a small book, yes? Or then there are very short stories combined to make one large book. Wouldn't it be a great feeling to be published, seeing your book in a store - whoa! What a hoot.

I have a theme of human relationship at a large scale and trying to get in to that with an intensity that the novel could be completed within a year! That's all for now!

It would be great to get all that inspiration and channel it into words, the end result being the book. Wouldn't matter what theme, just the experience of being in the process of creating it. Good luck with your endeavors and hope to hear from you at the end of the year, telling us the title and publisher.

You just have to start and what ever is coming in mind, related with the theme, should be put on paper immediately. Later on one can edit the things according to form!

I would like to write adventure novels of people overcoming difficulties. I'd also like to write a few non-fiction books about some topics that I have a good knowledge of. Time's a big problem though, once I've finished studying and settled into a job I might find the time but I'll probably study more to pregress higher in my job and never find the time to write.
