some people have friends at work but they never do anything outside work. they are like the best of friends there but never see each other outside of there. some make friends and spend alot of time with them outside the work place. some have met there spouse etc. some people just keep to themselves and just say hi and leave it at that. what do you do?

I have always left my work relationships at work. I like to keep my personal life seperate from work. As well as leave my work at work.

I'm not working at the moment, but when I was - I like to make friends with the people I work with, have lunch with them and stuff but I don't really like to spend time with them outside of work, unless it's an occasion that I am invited to. Once I finish work for the day, that time belongs to me and my home-life.

I believe friendship at work place is more of a necessity then an option.. it enhances one's comfort level at workplace, thereby improving his efficiency. It helps coordination and better understanding among co-workers. However, an overdose of friendship can hurt one's time and one should not compromise on work at its cost. After all, a workplace is a place 4 work, to say the least.
