What part of your computer would you want to upgrade?

Do you have a need to upgrade any part of your computer? Do you want to do an upgrade just because everyone else has something better? If you have upgraded parts of your computer, did you notice a big difference? I just upgraded the RAM in my computer since it only had 256MB of RAM, which I was told is too small now. I added another 514MB this evening and noticed a huge difference in how quickly my computer moves. I know many people have much more RAM but my computer can only go up to 1 GB.

I definately need to upgrade my computer. Iwould love to get vista but I would also love to add some more ram.Is it expensive to do? Is it hard to do? My computer had been running so slow. My brother said I might need to defrag my computer. If i can figure out how to do it that is!lol

I would love to get Vista as well but it is not on my high priority list. I just want my current computer to work better and hold more. It depends how much RAM you want to add to your computer. I purchased my RAM from www.crucial.com and was able to get 512mb for $49.99, not including shipping and handling (5.99). Obviously the higher the RAM the higher the dollar amount. It is easy to do as my new roommate showed me how to do it.

i want to upgrade my RAM and video card coz that's the only thing i need to have a faster speed on my compter! for you kgwat70, 1 GB for a RAM is good... but are you sure that your RAM can only go up to 1 GB only?! i think not! you can only tell that because you don't have enough slot to put another memory right?!

I am definitely sure that my computer can only hold 1 gig of RAM as I checked the EMachine website as well as other sites. My computer only has two slots for RAM. It seems to work fine now that I increased it more, though not to the full amount. I used Crucial.com and Emachines website to see how much RAM can be in my computer.

it's the memory or RAM that i want to be upgraded to my pc. low RAM actually is the cause why computer hang up or runs slowly when too many windows are opened. another upgrade would be the processor itself, a faster one.

upgraded - upgrading the system
Yes I am using 1GB right now and yes it does really help the computer to run much smoother and faster, and I am looking into getting the second GB and a external harddrive so I can clear mine out and start over but still have things same on another hard drive for future use.I think with all the new programs that are being added and all it is important to upgrade, for alot slower machines just can't run certain programs.

That is very true that the older computers will not able to handle the newer games or software that keeps coming out. Every year the software that comes out takes up more space on the computer. We definitely do need to pay attention to our hard drive space, RAM and processor speed as well as other parts.

It sounds like some serious upgrading on your part. You should had the 512mb RAM to your 256 as it will make your computer much faster. Monitors go bad after a while as well. Hope that you are able to upgrade your computer like you want.

Right now, I am using 128 MB of RAM and I wish to upgrade it to 256 MB. The other thing I want to upgrade is my video card. However, I don't see the immediate need to upgrade because I am not into any activity like playing computer games, watching streaming videos that needs all those quick loading of pages. I am more interested in buying a new set of computer once I have the budget for it.

You should definitely think about more memory than 256mb as that is not very much and my computer was really slow on that amount. Doing upgrades is definitely not cheap. I rarely play computer games or watch videos and 256mb was still slow.

yes i need to upgrade my computer. i just need to put more ram in there. right now i have 128mb of ram and i would like to have at least 256mb, preferably 1gb. many games these days have high requirements on ram so i cant play them. your computer should be much faster when there is enough ram in it as you have said

You will definitely need more than 256mb of RAM in your computer, especially if you like playing games. That will definitely not cut it. I love my computer now that is has more RAM. Hope you are able to upgrade yours as well.

Well, the upgrades I need are necessary, not because other people have something better. I really need at least 2.0GHZ processing speed. I would also like to upgrade my video card. The internet is changing fast and I need some of the newer technology to keep up. I used to have dial-up and I know that half the things on the internet don't do well with it. I also used to use Windows 98 and that doesn't work as well nowadays, either.

You definitely should upgrade your operating system as you will not find many things for Windows 98 anymore. A good video card is good although I do not know which one is best. That is an excellent processing speed that you want in your computer. My processor speed was fine but my RAM needed improvement. Dial up is very slow and unreliable.

Oh, I use Windows XP now. I used to use Windows 98 and the internet doesn't support that as well. I was using that as an example. The processing speed I have now is 1.5 GHZ which is pretty good, but I need more if I want to do some of the things I want to do.

If I am looking to improve the performance of my computer, I will also start upgrading the RAM first, before even thinking to upgrade the motherboard itself.

i would sometimes update the softwares in my computer. and i should say that new softwares are much more better than the old ones. and i have just updated my qq, which is a chatting software in china, and i find it has some virus as soon as i install it on my computer. and the presentatives of the software company admitted that their latest software is not yet so desirable. and they would probaly do all they could to make it better. i think some of the softwares in our computer should be updated as soon as possbile. while for others . if it is not so important . why not just let it be what it is like. and let it be leave alone things.......................

What happens when you turn your computer on? Does it make any beeping sounds? I was told if you turn your computer on and it beeps and nothing else it could be the motherboard. Did you get a virus or worm from the internet? You may want to have a friend look at it or take to a computer place to find out what is wrong with it.

Yes, recently i just bought a new computer and find out that the performance will lack a bit when i play the game Need for Speed - Carbon, even my display card is 256MB with Memory 512MB. So im thinking where can get a cheap 1GB RAM and upgrade my computer, im not sure whether this will improve the performance or not but at least it can help to release some "miliseconds" during play game, hope the game can run smoother after upgrade the RAM.

I don't upgrade just because other people have it. I upgrade because I find a need. :) Currently, I would like to upgrade to a large battery capacity to the laptop. It seems that the battery life is quickly gone and I am charging it often. Why can't they make a battery that would last the laptop all day long? LOL And then I would only have to worry about charging it while I slept. But hey, I am sure that we will have that one day! :)

i need to upgrade my 256 RAM to at least a 512 RAM. i also need to add more memory to my hard disc drive, i wish i could upgrade it to 80 GB, or even to a terabyte, but i dont have the money right now, so 60 GB is ok with me. i also would like to upgrade to a DVD rom with DVD/CD burner. I would also like to upgrade my video and sound card as i only have onboard units which came with the motherboard. i also would like to have an LCD monitor which is more energy effecient.
