i went to bangkok last december with my family... it was my first time to bangkok, i'm not fond of night market, i prefer the malls so we stayed at the arnoma hotel... the hotel is a perfect place for shopping because it is right the center of shopping malls... Big C is just beside the hotel, just across the street you can find Central World Plaza, Isetann, and more...

Ooo i see. Thank you for your hotel info dear. Hotels are quite expensive actually. Holiday Inn is expensive and not for budget people like me. :) thanx a lot!!

i went to bangkok a year ago. you can try the baiyoke market for cheap items, and the night market at swanlum (not so sure about the spelling) and patpong. i haven't been to the chatuchak market but they say that you can find anything there from fruits and animals to thai silk and carved woods. bangkok also have malls like the siam and the MBK. the bangkok train (BTS) can take you anywhere.

I was just there in February. There's a lot to do. You can go shopping around Khao San Road and surrounding areas. Also some good guesthouses along Phra Arthit. Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Marble Temple are all musts. Some of the smaller wats are very friendly and have far fewer tourists. Be careful of tuk-tuk drivers with offers that sound too good to be true. They'll offer a great ride as long as they can take you to some shop or whatnot. You can go along as long as you know it's a scam and flatly refuse to buy anything when offered.
