DH and I have been going to the movie store and renting some older videos for our kids to watch. Things that we loved when we were kids. Escape to Witch Mountain, The Muppet Movie, and Short Circuit just to name a few. The kids absolutely love them, as much as we did (and still do!) Short Circuit was one of the funniest for them to watch. Without prompting, the kids picked up the SAME phrase we did when we saw it. "Hey Laser Lips... Your Momma was a SNNNOW Blower!" They repeat that everywhere. We even had to have a sleepover so the boys in my son's class knew what he was talking about! Now, there is about 6 little 2nd graders quoting the movie. LOL!Have you movie reminisced with your children? Do you find them quoting the same things you did? Pick up on the same actions?

I've been able to introduce my neice to some older movies including "Escape to Witch Mountain". She also likes "Cat From Outer Space", "Charlie the Lonesome Cougar", "Father Goose" and the original "Yours, Mine and Ours". I love being able to share these movies with her. There are many more we've shared with her and some she's liked, some she hasn't but for the most part she's enjoyed them. Yes, she's picked up on the same lines we did as a kid. It's nice to have that connection.

Isn't it great to be able to share those same things that we loved as children? I don't think I've heard of charlie and the lonesome cougar. I may have to check if the video store has that one! :)

I used to watch all the movies you mentioned when I was growing up too, good times. My daughters, nephew and a friend of theirs started watching Goonies one day and did not leave the couch. They were glued to the TV watching it, my hubby and I included. They quoted Sloth saying rocky road and hey you guys. It was cute.

We ended up buying the Goonies, and the Sandlot because my kids couldn't get enough of them. They didn't pick up any fun things from those movies, but they do get watched A LOT!! They ended up watching Ghostbusters last night, and yup... "He Slimed Me" was the first thing out of my son's mouth. LOL!

I hope she loves them as much as we did when we first saw them! My youngest (who is 2) absolutely loved the Muppets Take Manhatten. I don't think she moved during the whole movie! (well, it could be in part that she fell asleep somewhere in the middle. LOL!!)

I have a whole collection of DVD's I loved when I was growing up and like to watch them with my kids. Ghostbusters, Annie( I love Annie), Back to The Future, etc...It's amazing how different movies were back then compared to the stuff now. It makes me feel good though when my kids enjoy a movie that I did at their age. Everytime my 4 year old has a messy sneeze she says "I've been slimed" LOL and my 11 year old likes to call people "McFly". Some things never go out of style.

LOL!!!! Sounds like our kids would get along famously! As long as your 4 year old wouldn't mind being called Laserlips. :)

My daughters love to watch Flight of the Navigator, The Goonies, and ET. We watch them every month or so and I find it amazing that they like the smae movies I watched as a kid. I wonder if will watch movies from their childhood with their children with them? Or if they will watch ET with their childen....that would be kinda neat.

That would be neat. It's just so much fun watching them watch the movie. It's like looking back in time.
