A CBS pull found that 81 % accept the threat of Terrorism as something that they will always have to live with. What are your thoughts on this?

I think it will always be around in one form or another. I also believe the threat will remain great as long as people don't take it seriously enough or continue to believe you can negotiate with these groups. Terrorism is a broad term. People often associate it with radical islamist groups but it applies to much more. The tactics used by the I.R.A. are considered by many to be terrorism. Timothy Mc'veigh was most certainly a terrorist as well. I dont see it as a threat that will ever completely go away as long as people believe that the INTENTIONAL murder of innocent civilians is seen as a justifiable means of furthering ones agenda as many do. All we can hope to do is diminish the threat and keep it from spilling onto our own shores and try our best to keep it from sprouting in other places.

Huh? The tactics used by the IRA are concidered by many to be terrorism? They bombed the UK and Northern Ireland on many, many occassion so they were definately terrorists, no doubt about it. I'm not having a go at you or anything mate, it's just that if I said Bin Laden and Al Queda's tactics are concidered by some to be terrorism, it wouldnt be right. For what happend on 9/11, Al Qaeda are definately terrorists. In the same way the IRA definately were terrorists for all the attacks carried out on our people in protest of our government.

Unfortunately, I think we will always have to live with that threat. More countries than ever hate us and want to harm us. The only thing we can do is slowly try to regain the respect of other nations and always be wary and on guard.

The entire world has always had to live with terrorism in one form or another. However, before 9/11, America had never had to deal with it on such a massive scale (Pearl Harbor not included because it was an intentional act of war by a state, although some could consider it Terrorism). I think the correct poll that CBS should have done would have been one tracking whether or not Americans accept the threat of terrorism as something that is going to affect their everyday for the rest of their lives. Personally, this doesn't make me anymore afraid than I was before.

I still live my life as i did before that horrible day. I think the besdt thing everyone could have dome the next morning was to just get up and go to work. One of the goals or terrorism is to disrupt day to day life and intill fear. Well, it worked apparently. Yes it was horrible, yes it was devistating but i think if we had all just gone on with life as usual while mourning the loss and finding and punishing the responsible parties, we could have avoided handing the victory to them. I hope and pray the next time this hapens we stand up, rush ourselves off and just go to work.
