Some times it very hard to involve our children with the pregenacy process, sometimes they are just to young to understand. MY daughter-in-law had an ultra sound last week (they have a 3 year old at home) and the technation asked if they would like a recording of the heart beat to take to the stuff- a - bear store and have a bear made for the big sister they gave them a dicount coupon and told them all proceeded go to childrens hospital. They had a pretty bear made in pink and when they brought it home to there daughter she was so excited to have something linking her to the new baby, now whenever anyone comes in she gets her bear and shows them and tells them thats my baby brother his heart is beeping. I spoke to them the other night and I guess she has taken to sleeping with the bear. what a wonder way to share with a child who sometimes could feel left out of the excitement of a new family member coming into there lives.

That is a really neat idea. They also sell these bears at Wal-Mart and other stores as well. They have a fetus heartbeat bear and another that has womb sounds. I used mine for when my daughter and son were born because it is suppose to be used for a comfort zone or something like that. After my kids were born and every time they would start to be fussy, I would turn the bear on and they would just relax and even fall asleep. There has been test with this and studies show that kids even up to 6 years of age will feel relaxed and daze off, even fall asleep while the heartbeat of a fetus is playing. :)

That is such a great idea! I feel it's very important to include older siblings in preparations for the arrival of a new family member and this teddy bear sounds like a really good way to do just that. I will most definitely keep that in mind for when it comes time to give my son a younger sibling. :o)

That is an awsome idea!! I had never thought of doing something like that, but now that I know it is out there, I think it is an absolutely fantastic idea. I wonder if they have any services like that here in my area. I will definitely have to check that out. Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us.

I am not sure when they started this, We live in ohio and my daughter-in-law is about 3 months along, i just know when she went for her ultra sound last they gave her a tape of the babies heartbeat and told her about the bear that you can make at the stuff-a-bear store.

That is a precious way to include big sister in the coming event. It will help her when her baby brother comes home. I will remember this and tell my friends who are getting ready to have a baby and have other children and don't know how to include them in telling them about the baby. This is not only a good way but a great way. Thanks for sharing this.
