How long do you wait before giving "Best Response"?

I just finished giving away a few "Best Response" awards. What I like to do is wait until 3 days after the last response per discussion. Is that too long? Should I go ahead and give it away earlier or stick with what I'm doing now? Share your thoughts.

i give best responses, whenever i feel that someone deserves it already. my best response can be anyone who replied to my discussion. it doesn't necessarily mean it should be my friend or someone on my friend's list. as long as the person deserves it, i give it. i think 3 days is just fine, as long as you have enough responses and you were already able to find the person who deserves it.

I dont know there are some discussions that I have started that I have never given a best response. so it is hard to say. I give them if the response is exactly what I am looking for

I will wait at least a few days to give the Best Response as there will be possible more responses being replied. If I give the result too early will not be very fair to the latter responses. There is a saying: 'The best comes at the end.' LOL - only joking!

I think it depends on the discussion. If it stays active for several days, then wait a few more days before awarding a best response. However, if it is short-lived, then award one sooner. I try to go through my unresolved discussions every few days to stay on top of it though as I don't want to wait until the end of the month to have to use up too much time doing it.

I usually give it a week or so before i think of giving a best response. I dont want to jump into conclusions in giving a response straight after i have posted the discussion. It gives others the opportunity to maybe better the response as well.

do it any way you feel is right. I wait for 10 responses and then I give it. If I don't get 10 responses I wait up to a week.

I only mark a best response to those who deserves to be given. It will take a month or more before i will give best response specially if their are lots of good responses on my discussion.

i think 3 days is good. i wait atleast that long or longer, it depends on how many responses i've gotten so far. i'd hate to hurry and give a best response to someone and then have someone else write a really incredible answer that i wish i could give them the best response too.

Dear agri, I plan to wait for a month on some of the discussions and sometimes plan to wait for just a week. I think one week is too good a time. Anything less, you may loose out on the best answer and anything more will take away the sweetness of the query. hope i have answered you question mike the lil smiley devil http://www.indiatomorrow.net

when your discussion is still hot enough to receive more responses, wait a day or two more if you are having a hard time to decide which one is the best response. there are certain discussions of immediate concern. once you received a response that has been very useful to find a solution to your concern, you don't need to wait to award the BR, you can opt to go ahead. :) for long threads like 50, 100 or more responses... that takes me about a week before i can award the BR coz i try to read them all, and add comments when necessary (especially when the response has a question in it). but it's up to you to decide whichever makes you comfortable. anyway, it's all in your hands. the privelege of starting a discussion is you get to choose the best response as well. :) goodluck! :)

I usually wait about one weeks or more to give my best response awards. I think because it will gain more responses after a week or little more. I read all of them first, and then i decide to give my best response after read them all.
