What is your favorite recipe for lentil soup?

I LOVE lentil soup. What I make is very basic: lentils, carrots, onions, celery and spinach. I'm looking for some variation. What is your favorite recipe for lentil soup?

Moroccan Lentil Soup INGREDIENTS 2 onions, chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger 6 cups water 1 cup red lentils 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained 1 (19 ounce) can cannellini beans 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes 1/2 cup diced carrots 1/2 cup chopped celery 1 teaspoon garam masala 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cardamom 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1 tablespoon olive oil DIRECTIONS In large pot saute; the onions, garlic, and ginger in a little olive oil for about 5 minutes. Add the water, lentils, chick peas, white kidney beans, diced tomatoes, carrots, celery, garam masala, cardamom, cayenne pepper and cumin. Bring to a boil for a few minutes then simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or longer, until the lentils are soft. Puree half the soup in a food processor or blender. Return the pureed soup to the pot, stir and enjoy!

HEARTY LENTIL SOUP INGREDIENTS 1/2 cup dried split peas 2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules 1/2 cup dried lentils 2 tablespoons dried minced onion 1 teaspoon dried basil 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes 1 envelope savory herb with garlic soup mix or vegetable soup mix 2 cups uncooked tricolor spiral pasta ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS: 10 cups water 3 cups cubed cooked chicken 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained DIRECTIONS In a 1-qt. glass container, layer the first seven ingredients in the order listed. Place the pasta in a 1-qt. resealable plastic bag; add to the jar. Seal tightly. Yield: 1 batch (4 cups). To prepare soup: Remove pasta from top of jar and set aside. Place water in a Dutch oven; stir in soup mix. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45 minutes. Add the chicken, tomatoes and pasta. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes longer or until pasta, peas and lentils are tender.
