3 month old only sleeps while being held

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to break our 3 month old from sleeping while being held besides the letting her cryout method. She will only sleep for like 20 mins at a time in her swing but can not be put down on her back or anything. Please help

My daughter just went through this problem with her baby. Believe me, she and her husband were up more than they slept for quite awhile. Finally they decided to try the time-tested crying method, and it worked. At 4 months Cassidy now sleeps soundly and plays in her crib, and Shannon and Scott are getting to sleep more like normal human beings again.
