needle craft kits, How do you do them?

I frequently find various kinds of needle crafting kits on clearance racks, also at thrift shops or yard sales. Those in the thrift shops or yard sales are often started but not completed, often with some of the supplies missing. I very much enjoy seeing what I can do with these kinds of projects. Do you ever do this?? Does it frustrate you to not have all the called for supplies, or do you enjoy the challenge of finishing the projects with your own creativity?

I love getting these types of items whether brand new on clearance or already started at thrift stores and yard sales. When I get on that is already started I fist check to see if I have all the supplies needed to finish it. If not, then I look at the chart, the charts usually have the colors listed and either an anchor, dmc or jpcoats color code next to them. Then I just do to hobby lobby or another shop to buy the floss/yarn needed to finish the project. Sometimes, if I get a kit and I don't like the colors, I will just use the colors of my choice.

Yes,thats a good way. Do you ever add little extras such as charms, ribbons,or beads?? I do that a lot to make the project more 'mine'.

Oh, yeah, I do things like that to everything. Or I will add an extra flower or two if I think the pattern doesn't look right. I will switch out the cloth too if I want a different background color or stitch count. :)
