A question for Non-Believers

I know that this will spark some sort of debate, and thats perfectly fine. But i just want to know this: Why not just take the chance and go ahead and believe in God, Jesus, Heaven, Hell? What if you are so adamant that they arent real and they really are? What then? I AM a believer and i just dont understand how people dont believe when there are things all around us EVERYDAY that should be enough to prove HE is REAL.

Unbelievers don't believe simply because they do not want to believe. They want to run their own lives and want nothing to do with God. I've found that those who claim they don't believe have been thru hardships and tragedies in their life and are angry with God and blame Him for it. Of course, some won't admit this, but I believe it is true. I also have found that unbelievers are really angry and bitter. They are so rebellious against God as if they are trying to punish Him. They do not realize that they are truly hurting themselves in a very tragic way. They are missing out on God's awesome goodness and His plan for their lives. It's sad. They like to bash those who love the Lord and live for Him and those who are not afraid to speak about Him and His love. Satan always rears his ugly head when God is being glorified. I have found that God has never abandoned me in times of trouble. He has always been there. He's proven that to me over and over again. He has kept every single Promise that He has made and He will continue to do so. God is so good...ALL the time! There is nothing He cannot see us thru if we will only allow Him. Great topic! God bless!

Oh Amber that is so true! God offers us salvation thru His Son Jesus Christ. God does not want even one to perish. He loves us all so very much! Without Christ, we have no hope...none. We will all die and we will all face God in Judgement and those who have given their lives to Him will be saved. Those who have not will be cast away from Him for all eternity. The unbelievers don't want to even think about this, but sooner or later, they will have to. It is something that is going to happen whether they want to believe it or not. Christians spread God's love to everyone because we want everyone to be saved and know God. There is nothing greater...there is nothing more important! God bless!

"Those who have not will be cast away from Him for all eternity. The unbelievers don't want to even think about this" Some of us have thought about it and bottomline is this (speaking only for myself of course), IF after I die it ends up true that there is a heaven and hell and I'm not accepted into heaven EVEN THOUGH I lived my life with lovingkindness, compassion, I've been a good wife, mother, friend, neighbour, person etc, then I dont want to be in heaven....not to mention, after I die it really wont matter..what matters is how I live NOW, what matters is the fact that i have, do and will continue to live life right and do my best to be helpful, kind, compassionate and so on to others..... Either I'll get accepted because I am a good woman/person or I wont for whatever reasons and if i dont, i dont want to be there in the first place...

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that MEN ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although thery claimed to be wise, they became fools. - Romans 1:20 I have a friend who is an atheist (at least that's the simplest way for him to describe himself) who has faith that there is no god. I guess I'll leave it to him to explain further.

i think (yes MY opinion, which i have a right to) people who are atheist are just trying to show off. they think it makes them "special" to claim to not be a believer. prayers go up for them. I'd hate to be in their shoes on judgement day.

Atheists do seem arrogant. But it is too sad to be annoying, because we know what happens to those who deny God.

the thing is some of us HAVE been there and believed etc etc in fact wholeheartedly and completely but at some point we find that it no longer meshes with us or it just isnt the path we feel works or whatever the case may be..(the reasons are numerous and obviously vary from person to person)....I personally have seen, experienced, felt etc etc on a daily basis that have shown me my beliefs are real.. I suppose what I wonder is why does it matter to anyone else WHAT anyone else believes so long as we are good ppl, kind, and live our lives properly etc etc.....

Oh I understand that but thats them..why not leave us to our own personal paths/religions/spiritual choices and accept the fact that we have found our own ways ya know.....Realistically whats the point in believing in a religion that you really dont believe in but you do it anyway to please the masses and keep them off your back? I mean I could go back to Christianity BUT it would be disrespectful not only to ME but to true devoted Christians simply because there is NO truth in it for me, it would all be show.....So rather than put myself through the nonsense and disrespect true Christians and their religion etc etc I choose to remain where i belong...where I see the truth...Make sense?

I think it matters to people, because a lot of those people believe there are two options for eternity, and they don't want to see others go to the place they believe is called hell.

"at some point we find that it no longer meshes with us or it just isn't the path we feel works..." It's never been about you or me in the first place. It's about God. You talked about religion being for show. Choosing a religion that will fit YOUR needs, YOUR wants, THAT is religion for show. Why? Because no matter what "religion" you choose, if it's according to your terms, then you're in charge. That makes you the god of your "religion". The concept of religion exists because we were made with an inner desire to seek God. The good news is you have found God. The question is what happens if you found out that He's not what you expect Him to be, that having Him as your God doesn't fit with your lifestyle? Do you ignore Him, instead choosing to pick out the teachings He has that you can adapt to your lifestyle (good works, kindness, etc.), or do you say goodbye to your old lifestyle and embrace His great plans for you, because you concede that you are not god, but He is? "why does it matter to anyone else what anyone believes so long as we are good people, kind, and live our lives properly, etc." I used to think that, too, that God would judge me according to my works, and if I don't make the cut and end up in hell, fine. But that statement reeks of despair and hopelessness, which is NOT from God. Pretty soon, you'll realize that no matter what you do, you'll end up in hell anyway, so why bother with the good deeds? Why even waste your time with them when you can concentrate on being happy now, while you still have your life? And why does anyone care, anyway? The question is, why do your good deeds? If you do them for your own peace of mind, or because it's the right thing to do, you'll find yourself wanting. But if you offer them to God with the knowledge that it pleases Him, you will (re)discover a deep satisfaction that you made your Father in heaven smile. Why do we care? Because God cares. Because God commands us to tell people His Good News. God still loves you, and can't wait for you to come back to His loving arms. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
