i doubt as a family, that we sit together and eat meals that we have cooked maybe once or twice a month. its so much easier to buy prepackaged dinners, and frozen things!

I cook every single night of the week. On the nights my son has tball, we usually just have something easy like hot dogs or soup and sandwiches. We only eat at fast food places on the Saturday afternoon after my husband gets paid. We might go to a restaurant once every 3 or 4 weeks and that's just if the family gets together...like my parents and sisters and their families. I cook meals every night...a meat, a veggie, and a starch. We have things like homemade spaghetti, homemade lasagna, hamburgers, meat and potatoes, etc. But, I have to say that I am a stay at home mom so even though I am busy, I do have more time to cook a real meal than some people do.

I cook home cooked meals at least five times a week. I find it much healthier for my husband and I and I happen to really enjoy cooking. But I happen to be one of the lucky ones that is home during the day and I don't have children so I do have the time to cook. I can understand families with both parents working and kids how they could manage meals besides is beyond me. My husband is a chef so the last thing he want to do is eat at a restaurant too Cheryl

healthier for sure. i did buy a cantaloupe and blackberries for tomorrow. but, the thought of cutting it up and washing them all, the mess its going to make, has me discouraged already!

I have a husband that I love to spoil so I cook almost every night of the week. I make sure we sit as a family and have dinner. I was raised to cook for your family and I'm teaching my kids to cook too. I enjoy it and I know my family is getting fed a good meal. Sometimes on the weekends I will throw some frozen pizzas in the oven or something like that but other than that I'm pretty big on the homecooked meals.

i love to eat homecooked meals, but just don't really have the enthusiasm or the creativity it takes these days to get going. so busy, and so hectic! i remember the days of little kids, and little money, and it seemed so hard back then, but i still managed to cook,, mostly because i couldn't afford to eat out, or buy convenient dinners. i miss those days!

I usually cook my meals. I really can't stand all the salt in prepackaged meals and I feel ill after eating them. Besides, making your own is just so much cheaper and healthier than buying readymade, or hamburger helper

your right about it being cheaper. i just wish i had more time, and the enthusiasm for cooking. my husband is a better cook than i am. And, he will cook things, but usually from a box, or something not too complicated. i tell ya, by the time i use going grocery shopping, and then putting them in the trunk, hauling them home, and then putting them away, it takes a good 3 hours or so to get organized with the groceries. it is such a time consuming project-the whole shopping and cooking thing...

I cook most of our meals, as we can't afford to do it any other way. On special occassions, like birthdays, I will get a night off from cooking.

My daughter is really into cooking now- so we cook almost every night of the week- Plus I think its more healthy and less expensive than ordering out, or getting prepackaged meals. Dinner time is our bonding time- Even on softball practice nights - I sit with my daughter while she eats-- it's a bit too early for me- All other nights the 3 of us eat as a family- We do quick meals through the week and Big dinners on sunday!

I cannot stand the taste of pre-packaged foods. It tastes so fake. I make everything from scratch at home except for bread. I do make that though, but not for sandwiches. It is so much cheaper to cook from scratch and I don't understand why more people doesn't do it. I'd rather take an hour to cook supper than to stand in front of a microwave. Some people just does not have the time to cook this way and that is understandable.
