Which Do you Prefer... Manny Pacquiao ang Pambasang Kamao? or, Cong. Pacman?

Philippines

His efforts came at a time that the Philippine needs heroes that can bind the country. For winning against Solis, he served his country well again by breaking the contenders zero-loss record and bringing back the national Filipino pride when Villoria lost to the reigning world Boxing Council Flyweight Division Champion. with all these achievements Pacman had indeed served his country. Now, with the world knowing it, he is contending for a legislative post in his hometown province. Do you agree that Pacman should run for Congress? Why and Why not?

I don't think it's a good move for him to run for Congress. Politics in the Philippines is so dirty it will just put him in sharks mouth. He doesn't know this ground at all. Better he stays where he is now and continue to bring pride to the country. Besides he can help his fellow men without going into politics if he wants.

I guess he is just exercising his right to run for politics. Let his constituents decide if he deserves the position. If he loses this political match then its his lesson and at least he knows where he would stand. But if he wins let's hope that no one will use him an he would not allow himself to be used by other politicians who let him run because of his popularity.

I do agree with your observation. The present standing of the Philippine political system may put Manny Pacquiao's image in jeopardy. Noble his intention, as it maybe, but the fact that his trying to dip himself to the politics corrupt system, surely, he will be lost in oblivion.

Manny Pacquiao should stay as the Pambansang Kamao because he is doing very good in the field of Boxing... He is not familiar with the politics... Marami pa sya kakaining bigas when it comes to politics.

I would also agree but sometimes a person only learns from dipping himself to know that he had committed a wrong decision. So let him run and we will see if he would fare in his fight outside the ring.

the first time i heard that he is interested to run for a position in the government i wasn't really happy for that,he is a good man and as he have mentioned he has already help alot of people.and his intention to run is to extend his effort of helping his people in Gen Santos which for me is not a bad idea at all.who knows!?maybe he is the person, the city govenrment is looking for.he might be the one who will ask for funds for the complete development of the entire town.i wish he will find his decision right.i hope those politicians around him will definitely not intrude his plans for their own sake.let's just pray for whatever he believes in.

You should consider the political cost of his running. I think Rep. Darlene is too much of a good politician to be sacrificed for Manny's misguided ambition. Whatever he can do in the congress, Rep. Darlene can do better.

He should always be a Pambansang Kamao. Politics is not boxing where he could win easily with just a punch.

Being a filipino,i would prefer manny pacquiao as our pambansang kamao rather the congressman.politics here in our country is so destructive,if he really want to help his provincemate there are a lot of ways.by the way,he lost in the last local election.

I don't know if manny pacman suitable in that field, si manny has already 2 lost in his boxing career. Tama talaga name nya (manny Paquiao) it means pinapakyaw ni manny ang money.. hehehehe

I am not against Manny but I hope he just stay away from politics. It would just taint his good name. If helping this countrymen is his goal,he can always share to charity institutions. He is already helping a lot of people in his own way. Politics is a dirty game and i know for sure he will just be used by cunning politicians who wants a piece of him for their own good. Besides, what does he know about legistation? He does not even had an experience even in barangay level.

congressman pacquiao doesn't fit him, and the barong doesn't look good at him either. he's better off wearing those flashy shorts, boxing boots and boxing gloves and beating up challengers. he give more pride and service to the philippines doing that. for sure he'll just be used by officials in politics

He must definitely focus on his boxinf career rather than race into the dirty politics here in the philippines. and his only compelling reason is to help our kababayans well for me he is helping us in more ways than one. he can help us by him representing the philippines in the boxing world. well i don't want him dressed like a congressman. let other people do the dirty work manny. don't mess up your clean strong hands and stay as strong. more power!

Its ok to join politics but I think its better for him to run in an executive type of post- maybe a mayor or governor. I am not agreeable to his bid to join the legislative body.

i much prefer manny pacquiao, the pambansang kamao. he has succeeded in this sport, he unites the filipino people everytime he fights, and he should be happy with that. he can help his countrymen even without participating in politics.

I think he should stick to being "Pambansang Kamao"! Being a congressman is a whole lot different from being a boxer. It entails a lot of responsibility that cannot be done with a single punch. He has done a great job in boxing and I am praying that he wins a lot more fights in the future. I am proud of him and just wish that he just stay as a boxer.

he's a hero no doubt. but he's no "rizal". he will always be remembered because of his achievements, and every filipino will be indebted to the pride and glory he had brought for our country. but the sad truth remains that even "superman" had to chose between being a hero and being a human being. pacquiao, in all of his glory, must do the same. he can't be congressman pacman and a boxer at the same time. set aside logic and reason - the physical exertions needed to fight in the ring will suck enough strength from him for him to be even lift a pen to write his first speech. fight in the ring OR fight in congress.

Manny Pacquiao as the Pambansang Kamao is best for him. It's not that he's innocent with the political aspect. It's a very dirty world as we all know. His life as boxer is much better than a politician. He's got the money and a wife who knows how to handle his earnings. I'd say he's lucky with his wife. Manny just be a boxer!!!

I think Pacquiao is better off as a boxer than a congressman. Every time Pacquiao has a fight, I can say that even for that time alone, Filipinos become united in cheering for him. Like what you said he is already a hero to us because he serves as our source of inspiration. I don’t think he will be an effective Congressman because the Congress is the law making body of the government and how can he makes laws that will benefit his countrymen if he has no experience at all in being a Congressman. He’s claiming that he just want to serve the Filipinos. He can very well help and serve our country even he is not a Congressman.

Well, I totally agree with you that he became one of the heroes of the Philippines when we needed one. But I definitely go against him going into politics, eventhough he has good intentions. He doesn't have the knowledge in this kind of genre... It is not a game that you can easily win... He may win the race but will he be able to express his Kababayan's best interest to the congress? It would be best if he stays as the world's champ than congressman pacquiao. :)

Manny Pacquiao as the Pambansang Kamao. I still believe that entering to politics is not the only to reach out to the filipino people. He can help others in his very own way.

Definitely as Pambansang Kamao. He give pride and glory to our country every time he wins. And he glues every Filipino to the television everytime he has a fight. There are ways he can help his fellow countrymen without entering the politics.

Manny should not run for congress. He is doing good in boxing as it is. His reputation will only go down the drain in politics. There are so many reasons become candidates in election and I can't help but think that he is only in it for the money. Candidates who loose are still winners by pocketing campaign subsidies. What does he know about politics? He is only going to be confusing the voters, rendering legitimate candidates invalid. Could this be making a mockery of the Philippine politics? I really wish he would stay in boxing. He is good at it so should stay on.

Pacman has a right to participate as a candidate in the election. But more than the right to do so, there must also be consideration on the quality. Could Pacman serve the country better as a politician? I highly doubt so, considering his inabilities and inexperience. His inabilities will most likely cause his inefficiencies. His inexperience might make him susceptible to the manipulation of the people around him. Could he serve the country better as a boxer? We all know the answer to that. He will better serve the country as a symbol rather than a tool. And seeing the opportunity cost of his running, in the form of the incumbent congresswomen of Gen San, who in the short time I have seen in the news impressed me as a sensible and sincere politician, I express utmost disapproval of Pacquiao's running. Each has his or her niche. And Pacquiao will be better off away from politics.
