Do you have any indoor plants?

I have two little indoor plants that I keep on a window sill. I would like to have more but I find them really hard to maintain. I really like having real life plants in the house. What about you?

I love plants and flowers so yes, I do have many indoor plants - they make me happy everytime I look at them... Personally I don't find them hard to maintain just that I must ensure they get enough light. I cannot wait to start gardening once it gets slightly warm outside. By the way, I just planted my first rose yesterday...I hope and pray everything will be okay.

Congratulations on your first rose! They're usually pretty robust (I successfully grew several as a complete beginner), but they really suck all the goodness from your soil, so you should feed them often and dig in plenty of manure in the winter to keep them happy.

Nice! I love roses too. But I don't want the thorns. I was looking at this thornless rose plant the other day. It has nice, lovely small yellow roses. And no thorns! But it needs some kind of trellis to grow on. I'm thinking of getting it though. It's SO pretty!!!

I don't have many indoor plants, as such. We have a couple of plants that we inherited from a family member, but the only "indoor" plants that are really mine are the aloe plants I have. All I do to maintain them is to make sure they get some light and water them once per week. However, I have the beginnings of a garden sitting on a card table next to the glass doors. Some of my tomato plants are two feet high already. As soon as I'm fairly certain we won't have more frost, they will all be going into the ground.

I find aloe quite easy to grow. I've never tried tomatoes though. That would be interesting. I've always wanted a vegetable garden but never got around to doing it. Seems like so much work.

Maybe I should try that. I need plants that don't die on me so easily. I have to constantly worry about pests as well. So many of them here!! I have to treat my yard every year. It's so troublesome!

Tomatos are actually pretty strong plants, once they get going. Starting them indoors is easy. They also respond well to container gardenning, so I hear. Mine have always been in the garden. I just start them in the house. Last year I had a few unexpected tomato plants. They grew up from seeds of tomatos that we hadn't picked the year before. I decided to let them grow and they gave us a lot of tomatos last year - on top of the plants I intentionally grew.

I don't have too many plants indoors. Most of my gardening is done outside. I find it easier that way. Sometimes I miss the flowers blooming, then that's when I will run to the grocery store and pick some fresh cut flowers, and place them in a vase in front of the window or on the table, or even both sometime. Don't forget in Canada, it's not always warm. The fresh cut flowers in the garden don't always last very long. I love growing wild flowers in the garden in the summer. There's a really good website with a lot of gardening articles for indoor and outdoor planting at www.ez-gardening-tips.com.

Thanks for the website. Will definitely check it out. We just bought some outdoor plants today - a dogwood tree and 3 tree peonies! I'm excited to get them planted this weekend!!

I have about 300 plants that I bring inside every winter. Most are Brugmansia and Passiflora species. I plan to build a greenhouse when I can find suitable property.

When I moved into my new apartment I went plant crazy. I bought one of nearly every type. They were doing great in my big front window, then my cats decided to take note. Now my big battle is keeping the cats out of my indoor garden. One of them chews on the leaves of one plant, while the other tries gymnastic jumps over the plants and often when I get up in the morning I can see where she missed and upside down on the floor will be my favorite plant! I just can't win for losing.

hahaha! I don't know why cats like plants so much. I guess you have to be careful too as some plants are harmful to cats. Maybe you'll have to switch to fake plants! LOL!

Have you tried hanging your plants instead of having them sit on the sills? That's what my mother-in-law does. She has three cats. I don't know what the rules are in your apartment, but if you can, get some of those macrame plant hangers and hang them from hooks over the window. Just a thought.

I have only two indoor plants. Both of them are money plants. I used to have more but unluckily for me, my nephews seemed to love tearing the leaves off and dumping food all over my plants. The youngest even tried to eat the plants once. Since then i decided to have only two small ones high above the reach of little hands. I really wished i could have more especially ferns.

ooo...I like money plants. I think they are really cute. Yeah, I have to keep my plants away from my little one as well.

Unfortunately, I don't have any indoor plants as my wife prefers the house to be shaded. Because of the way my windows are dressed (blinds and drapes) I can't put hte m on the windowsills either. I try to make up for this by growing as many as I can outdoors. If you're finding it hard to keep plants healthy indoors, it's usually because there's either not enough light or that they are too warm and aren't getting enough fresh air. Try growing a few plants in similar pots and keeping some outside. That way you can switch them every few days and the plants will stay healthy by being outside.

A lot of plants will grow indors, our walmart carries a whole section of indoor plants. Africian violets i find are just impossible for me i tend to overwater them, but several others grow great even in darker rooms

I have several window sills full of houseplants. The weather has finally warmed up, and I was able to move most of my houseplants out to a sheltered position in the garden. I still have houseplants in the upstairs bedrooms, and I have one windowsill downstairs that is quite full of plants. In another two weeks or so I will probably move the rest outside, as long as we don't have any cold snaps between now and then. I am always in danger of having more plants than I have room for, especially when they need dividing and repotting.
